I really love payoffs after building to it. Letting all the elements knock down like dominoes because you've been so careful about setting it all up. When everything finally tumbles, that is GOLD to me.

Visual are really important, of course. But I think for me would be character development, but what I certainly adore is a good plot twist! The kind of plot twist you didn't saw coming, but when you read back in the story, it was there, but you just didn't see it...it's just delightful!

It's always the characters that do it for me. After all, you cannot have a good comic without the characters, and I sure as hell love a great cast of characters to fall in love with!

Also, as a big fan of Ishida Sui, I'm really drawn to a comic or story where the creator is able to surprise the readers with an intricately woven plot. Like if the creator has really put in a lot of effort into the plot it shows and makes the comic much more enjoyable.

A combination of characters, plot and worldbuilding - sprinkled with a healthy dose of attractive artwork!

Those are ranked in order of importance, btw. I have to care about the characters to care about the plot, and all the awesome worldbuilding in the world (haha!) won't matter if the story and the characters in it are bland and boring.

Romance and good fight-scenes are fun too, but they're less important than character/plot/worldbuilding. Unless the romance is the plot, of course.

I don't want to be typical but yeah...good characters/character development! It's just one of those things that make or break a story. Even if the plot is cliche, good characters can save the day! I'm also a sucker for great visuals! It's not an essential per say but, it definitely hooks my attention easily >//<

Well im reading I'm enjoying the plot mostly and where its going. Trying to think where it will go in the future related to a character or the entire story. (Steven universe theories are my latest adiction)

But its the big impactful moments that stay with me longterm. A lot of people are saying they love a characters development, for me I guess its more about the emotions of those key moments of "oh snap" that keep me interested... maybe those moments in my mind hrlp make the character?

Characters and body language. A simple thumbs up makes me feel more emotionally connected to a character than any 'okay' every could. I love it when comics make the most of human behaviour/characteristics. It's absolutely fascinating.

Just repeating the majority, Character development. Characters that grows over the story (with interesting plot) are always my favorites, AND some drama in the way!

Although I read and enjoy many kinds of comics (some that are more story based and some are more about the art) but I still find that I get most out of comics that are really character driven. Of course good story matters but I can forgive a lot if the characters are interesting and I'm invested in their fates. If for example the art is amazing I still might drop a comic because I don't care for any of the characters.

That you can tell a story mainly through visuals. Being able to convey a story without using many words is very powerful, and it does show a great amount of skill not just in art but in story telling. When it's done well it can be extremely engaging to read. Not to say using lots of text in a comic is bad, but sometimes having things explained through monologue can be boring.

I really love comics that make me think. It can be thought provoking in any way, either getting me to think about humanity or trying to figure out why a joke is funny. Great characters aren't bad either.

This definitely! The best plot twists are the ones that were lurking under the surface all along. Which is why having the story planned out in advance is so vital for great foreshadowing.
