Since the future high-fantasy collab has evolved quite a bit, I'd love to have some continued feedback
Varinn (Half drow, half dryad. Completely useless in fights, unpredictable dryadic magic. His powers are affected by sunlight)
Originally his bark patches were sort of birthmark type thing, but we decided later they form in place of scar tissue for him...Making his backstory even worse. he has almost no feeling in them (since plants do not have nerves & scar tissue destroys some nerves IRL usually).
Was the boytoy of the former matron mother of the continent's drow society (her daughter having recently usurped her throne) from his early teens. Received his scars from that time, since the matron mother liked how they looked (ergo caused more of them).
the insectoid dragon with him is a sort of lesser dryad. All different types of plants have their own protector, bigger types having bigger ones (I.E tree species have each their own humanoid dryad). The insectoid is from a new brush plant that Varinn grows (the same species as the flowers that grow on Varinn). It absolutely hates Alar's guts.
Later on his mount is an old gray clydesdale mare (to the annoyance of Alar) named Peppercorn. any of the horses won't have the feet thufts though, as the climate of the world is based loosely on Australia, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to have obvious traits from cold climates.
is saved by Alar from being sacrificed to Loth by the new matron mother.
He's snarky, distrusting and completely in awe of the world above ground (being born and raised in the underdark).
Alar (Human. Pretty useful in fights. Has a two handed sword)
Is buff AF.All the pictures of only him are super old though.
Mega-Gay. The human society is equal and gender neutral in everything, but they're racist as fuck boi.
Racist, gullible & prejudiced.
He's a templar, joined the order in his late teens when he fell in love with a templar-bear who was recruiting in his village.
Disowned his own family for being shady merchants and profiting with fear-mongering. Still loves his sisters though.
The templar's order & faith is built on the concept of mercy.
By the beginning his faith is already on shaky grounds due to an earlier incident that involved him killing a dryad in a setting that was clearly against the teachings of the order & their goddess.
His mount is a dark brown fresian stallion with an edgy name (Dark Shadow, etc).
brings Varinn originally with him only because of his faith.
The Dryads
Protectors, or mothers, to the trees. They all have their own species, and if the dryad of a species ever dies their species will slowly wither too. The continent is divided into five sections, and the dryad's species flourish in their own section.
technically immortal, all dryads have a seedpod that if replanted, grows their tree which rebirths them aswell.
World tree, which is one of a kind, which is in the middle of the continent where all the sections join.
Generally don't meddle with other species, unless they feel their ecosystems are being fucked with. Then the bodies pile up.
Revered as gods in the pagan faith, which is why the templars are interested in eradicating them, chucking any stories of extinction to fairytales.
That's about it. If you have any comments I'd greatly appreciate it!!
Some misc concepts (by myself and the artist friend who I am collabbing with)
