I like a lot of what's been said here, self promotion is awesome and being yourself is some of the greatest advice ever. Going about self-promotion tactfully is wisdom, and the idea that the staff reads pretty much everything that goes out on tapastic is wicked cool.
The phrase "Help those who help themselves" is on the dot of how this site operates in regards to features- and I think that's.... well. I don't agree, to put it lightly.
I think it should be "help". Like, there's a qualification for helping? What? That's ridonculous. I think the Daily Snack is such a huge and EASY way to help literally anybody out, and I see that that's not being done. Sure, you see quite the variety nowadays in comparison to the old Snack, but it can't be ignored that there's 5 a day, and very often you will see the same 5-10 people taking 2 or 3 of those slots every day. Hahaha, why? There are already many other ways those people are getting exposure, and we're putting them in most of the snack too? I mean, you got emails, tweets, facebook posts, 5 daily snack comics and the "weekly" banner feature. That's a lot! Why am I seeing the same people every day?
Don't get me wrong, Pigeon Gazette is the bomb, Owl Turd is always 100% gold, and ZARP spits a good set of bars every so often. But that should be like.... 1 spot on the snack a day. Why would you ever have Sarah Scribbles, The Awkward Yetti, Another Slice, Cheer Up Emo kid and THEN that one long form comic at the end? Why? It's such a missed opportunity for comics like Oops, English Project Shorts or Room For Improvement to make a few appearances. Not to mention all the other great comics I don't even know about, y'know? Myl could use a good appearance once in a while too. Even if the Daily Snack is gonna be different eventually, it is what it is now, y'know? Make the best of it!
I don't know. Just feels like a wasted opportunity for the whole site in general. And, I mean, these are all Tapastic Community kids I'm talking about. People you see on the forums all the time. Correct me if I'm hella wrong, because I could be.
