Ah thank you so much
I'm glad you like what I came up with ... it was definitely a challenge (the references helped though) but also a lot of fun ... not just because your character is very, ahem, aesthetically pleasing.
I also just enjoy these kinds of poses, even though they do feel like my nemesis sometimes.
And yeah, pirates are way too much fun ... that's why I just made them canon too. ^^ (I should also check out your stuff)
Also thanks so much. Well first of all, I do think you're a great artist, and second of all, I've actually learned a thing or two from the art you've posted here. Like, sometimes someone will upload a piece and when I see it my brain will focus in on a part and something will click and I go "Ooooh so that's how it works!" My only issue is that sometimes there's a huge difference between my theoretical knowledge about what a thing looks like or how a thing works and my ability to actually draw the thing ... I remember vividly how I praised another artist's anatomy once, at some point during my first year of med school, and asked her how she got so good at it, and she replied "Don't you study medicine? When you learn about the muscles and bones I think this will all become a lot clearer and easier to you." And I wanted to cry because I'd literally just learned about all the muscles in the body and didn't get any closer to being able to draw anatomy well. At the end of the day it still comes down to practise and just ... looking at things a lot until something clicks.
