I'm thinking about adding a glossary page to the Katabasis website which lists some of the terms used in the story. They aren't super complex, but they're all real-world words that I've repurposed. "Fledgling" is an example.
If I do make a glossary I'll probably port it over to the Tapas version as well, btw.
On one hand: The story's update schedule is fairly slow as far as novels are concerned, so I feel like it might be helpful to have a reference that readers can look at if they don't quite remember what a word means.
On the other hand: I want to respect my readers' intelligence and their ability to understand the story. I worry that adding a glossary might be looking down on them.
I've seen a fair amount of webcomics that have pages dedicated to defining in-world terms and explaining tons of background lore. And of course I've also picked up a few novels that include glossaries, translation guides, maps, etc. But how do y'all feel about stuff like this? Does it take away from the narrative or is it helpful?
