What are they to you and how do you manage them?
I’ve seen a few threads here and there where people pull themselves down for not having a high sub count or thousands of views/comments on their projects. And even people giving up out of frustration and disappointment.
Sometimes people blame Tapas/Webtoons (for whatever reason), but sometimes I see people blaming themselves or the quality of their work. They think because they haven’t become ‘successful’ yet that they are wasting their time.
Please don’t judge your worth as a creator based on these things. They are a form of feedback, yes - but it doesn’t mean you are a bad story teller or artist just because your stats are low. It’s also not a waste of time (ever!) doing something you enjoy.
I think it’s good to aim high, but I also think it’s good to enjoy the ride, break goals down and praise yourself for smaller victories.
Manage your expectations, stop trolling yourself, and realise that most readers can’t be bothered to like, sub or comment anyway.
If you’ve drawn/written/created anything today - then you should be proud.
