Localized anime did a thing that REALLY confused me as a kid.
I'm Asian, so I knew what Asian food was, but the one that confused me when I saw it in English dubs of anime, is that they would keep calling the riceballs donuts.
I'm not from the USA... BUT I knew the shows were dubbed in the USA. So for a while I thought that for some reason, the USA had donuts that looked like riceballs, and that's why they they were 'confused' when translating. As they always seemed 'confused' on what the fuk food was.
Later when I was older I realized that it actually wasn't them being confused, it was localization in an effort to not confuse children... which actually had the opposite effect on me and confused the hell out of me to the point I thought everyone in the USA ate donuts EVERYDAY and that donuts in the USA were shaped like riceballs.
