So this one might get long-winded, but i'll try my best. The sequel to my first book "Damsel in the Red Dress" is now coming out weekly. It really expands on the idea of the first one which is really "shattering the fairy tale" when you have to see life from angles beyond the fantasy you tried to make it into, where villains are these sinister people with horns or mustaches, and the Prince is always going to come to your rescue, or comfort you, or admit that he loves you.
That's not always how it works in real life. Villains are mothers who think they love their sons to death but destroyed his sense of self, his childhood, his home. Villains are Prince Charmings who refuse to offer their loves the affirmation they need out of pride and fear and selfishness, who manipulate them and hurt their feelings intentionally because they're used to getting their own way. Villains are damsels who are so concerned with taking the easy way out that they'll love and fawn over someone to their face and complain about them behind their back.
basically, everyone is the villain, and everyone is the main character of their own story, if you change the angle.
It also deals a bit with some of my...masculinist? ideas...wanting to really show the world that men have emotions, men are just as complicated as women and not just carnal animals. Kattar is so very complicated in this story, just as complicated as Alicia, and she's realizing that there is depth to his emotions that she never realized, just assuming he was just "a man." he is a man, but that isn't a universal answer for why men behave the way they are. they have motivations, and I don't know why, as a woman, i'm so passionate about showing the world this, but it is what it is. And they are what they are, every bit as complex and emotional and beautiful (okay, handsome if you want to be that way) as any woman.
(also it just updated a few days ago, so yeah i guess)
