We usually just head out to eat as a family on Halloween to avoid having our doorbell constantly rung by trick-or-treaters. (My mom never really liked having to constantly answer the door like that.)
Our neighborhood used to have this fun tradition when the kids in the area were younger called "The Phantom" where one family would ring the doorbell of another family at night and leave a bucket of treats anonymously on the doorstep along with a note saying that "The Phantom" has arrived and that the family who got "visited" would continue the chain y anonymously dropping off another bucket of treats and a similar note on another family's doorstep. It was a lot of fun and now I'm kinda sad we stopped doing it.
Also, I usually just wear my Snoopy hat or Charlie Brown shirt and call it a day then. Also, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Always watch that during October as well.
