Has Anyone Heard Of Vocal?

I ran into an ad about this website called Vocal, and it's essentially a website where you publish your stories and then you get money based on how many people read your stories and give you tips - if they're generous enough. I was just curious as to if anyone's used it before? If they're legitimate? (I was mainly curious because I'm trying to find any way to make some side money, even if it's not super substantial.)

I think we'd all like some money for all the stories we're telling for free. I'm interested in this as well. Anybody try it yet?

It does definitely sound interesting. By the statistics they show, it looks like it would take a while to make any substantial amount of money from it, but I think it would be worth a shot if it's real.

I haven't looked into it so this is just an idea/opinion off the top of my head but, it sounds to me like this is something you could do with older stories looking for fresh markets and concentrate on the newer works here where you may have already established yourself. That way you gain a new audience at the new place and you provide new stories for your old audience and when the time comes you just move pieces over.

Ooh, that's a really good point and idea! I'm tempted to try this website and then report back if no one knows what it is.

Working for the audio drama company wasn't all staff writing. We also figured out what to play on the radio. Once a week a new show or two, the other two nights a week we were on we played reruns. The reruns made us the money that funded the new recordings. Kind of Ouroborus in nature.

Nice! That's a really good tactic! It sounds quite lucrative!

Lucrative is always subjective but... I would further suggest that you make some sort of plan to feed the monster.

I don't know how much back work you have on hand but if you've got enough to feed it out slowly you could get a nice round robin going, possibly. And, because you'll be creating for this site or which ever site you're creating for you'll be making new stuff, etc. etc.

Thanks! Again, yeah - I'm not expecting to be making bank. But it seems like, with a lot of back work to post, I'd imagine someone could at least do decent with this. I, unfortunately, don't have a lot of back work, really. I have a couple short stories, and that's about it.
