I'll start by saying that these subs I lost are too little to be statistically significant; I have no way to know if it was random chance or actual dislike of my page; but because there were my first unsubs, that they were 4 of them over 2 platforms and that after that I did not have any unsub before a long time, and never more that 1 one the same update, I suppose it was the page that was disliked and not just random chance. But it could be as simple as bad English grammar haha
That was this page:
I was quite upset because I thought this page so much. I knew the naivety of the way ethnicities other than the one of my main character were depicted could be wrongly interpreted, so I was very careful reminding by text and context that they were dreamed by a teen/very young man who only had contact with other ethnicities/cultures through patterns on fabrics or other artisan works, so obviously he could only have a naive vision.
First I felt I did not do my job properly of explaining context.
Then I realized that if people get offended by that, there may be only very little common ground between them and me, especially in a creator/reader relationship*, and that they would continue being offended by most of my comic pages. So I just forgot about it. But I'll still be interested in feedbacks. Sometimes readers see things that the creator did not think of, so feedback is always welcome.
*I did not get unsubs on Tapas, but if anyone read that who unsubbed for this reason, I'm totally open to discussion. I'm always open to discussion and think there is always some common ground to be found. Only, not necessarily easy in the creator/reader relationship, especially if no complain is actually made
