Have you thought on reworking past episodes of your comic?

Contrary to my main topic reply above, I absolutely do think that there is value is making improvements to readability. It's of course up to you, but I think that improving hard to read sections is almost always a worthy editing time investment

I've reworked old episodes from a formatting perspective - I used to stack two standard comic pages on top of each other to create more of a scrolling effect, but I didn't clearly delineate between the two pages within the canvas and there were serious cropping issues when I compiled it into a pdf. It took ages to do, but it was worth it i learned my lesson, no more long canvases lol.

But redrawing? Nope, not worth it. People DO like to see a progression in the art, even if they don't seem to notice or comment on it. Its part of your comic's visual history, even if you cringe at the older art. (Lately I've been thinking of old art like they're my characters baby pictures...like, aww, they were so cute and dorky, haha). I promise, your readers don't cringe nearly as much as you do! They like it for what it is!

I've already bit the bullet and gone back and redrawn my whole first chapter and a few panels of my second chapter. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I recommend it? Not particularly, unless there are other extenuating circumstances like you're printing in the future and if you're rewriting whatever you're redrawing. If you make clear boundaries on what needs to be changed and what you want to change but can live with, then it's easier to go about readdressing previous episodes.

Yea, focus on new content and all that jazz. It's always better to be ahead than pathetically behind.

oh yes, I'm currently gonna be re-working on my prologue for my main series, and I'm really excited for it, I'm still in the planning stages so it'll be a while until its created.

to answer your question i wanna show people who my art has got to where it is now, i feel its your decision and if yuou want to fix older pages down the road go for it!

Oof I just launched my comic and I have like around a 3 episode buffer and when I was launching I had the biggest urge to just delay it and redo the first 3.But you know at some point the results youre getting dont justify the amount of effort you put in. I prioritize finishing my comic so I try to turn a blind eye to things I'm not happy with and work on them in the next episode ^^

Oh yeah the text and grammar its also important althought in my case I´m not good with text bubbles ._.
and well I´m not good at editing but the text is also an important element, idk if this helps but I´ve heard a tip when sketching the comic you must focus on the location of the text bubbles first and that also helps you save space with backgrounds and such-
but I agree the text is a very important thing, like without we can´t tell the story

and when it comes to printing the comic it get shivers down my spine, I mean If I ever get to print my comic, I´d have to rework some stuff since it got to look professional and presentable for those who gonna read it
we have to compromise with the comic way more?

I'm generally too busy making new content to worry about going back and fixing old content, this is a comic that free to read that I get paid pennies for making after all, and new episodes are what current readers want, as well bring in new readers via the sites algorithm. Updating old episodes does not do this.

Now if given the situation where I would be paid to rework old episodes and clean them up then I would have no problem doing it. Cause then I have the financial justification and a reason to need older pages to look better at that point to do it, same idea with printing.

Well yeah I kinda wanna work on few more episodes before my LITTLE Hiatus lmao cuz I wanna give people a little more and complete and leave a decent introduction of the story hehe...

and well the thing is that welll this is thing that does not just happen to me but also many artists, like becoming more judgmental with our own art, like not liking it and like end demanding more from our self and well eventually with practice we improve but like sometimes it keeps coming back
who said being an artist was easy

but yeah as I also like creating new things must share them

Focus on making new content, new art, new episodes. Eventually, readers will notice your growth and come to appreciate it!

Same for me: I'd like to make a better and more interesting introduction to my story. If you really feel like it, then you can go and record on the past episodes

Yes, in specific chapter 1. My art has changed I feel and developed to the point where I would want to change little things as well as adding a little bit to the introduction of chapter 1.

But also in the back of my mind I like to keep it the same to show my growth as a artist during the comics run. Still up in the air as of right now

I just restarted my story. But I waited long to finally do it. (Ca. 4) My tip: don't redraw if it's purely for art reasons. As others have pointed out, you will get stuck in a redraw-loop.

In my case I had major problems with pacing, plotpoints and the art of course in the first chapters as I was just starting out with drawing. If you are going to redraw, be sure, what you want to change and until where. Having a buffer of those pages helps alot aswell. I prepared 50 finished pages, bevor I launched the redrawn version.

I've only really went back to redraw something if I either wanted to see how it would look now with how I draw or if I wanted to digitally recreate an old pencil drawing from long before I had a drawing tablet. Otherwise, I try not to go back on old episodes because I already have so many ideas to turn into comics and I don't get much time to do so.

However, I do like a lot of other people's tips about going back and fixing the text! I think that's important and I think I should consider that 'cause my handwriting is small and butts.

and about the art the good side of it is that we can compare our current progress with old drawings of ours and feel better about our art and well in my case I kind of feel that I can do it better and dare to redo it

Yeah well I was an only comic consumer person xDx people´s really got my attention and obviously I kept reading lol
but now that I also know the phrase "they come for the art and stay for the story" I really taking it on consideration since now I am responsible of working on the comic all by myself xD._.

So also must focus on building the story, the font, editing and all that stuff

I feel the same and because my art improved a lot from my first episode till now, I just rework the first episode, so that new readers don't close it again bc they don't like my art style. my first episode was 2 years old
