Which is better New or Old novel cover?

I drew the new one by hand, if you like that one better, is there anything that you think should be changed? What about the background? Is it too busy?

I prefer the first one (the new version). The old one has a lot of objects in the frame, making it look more 'fragmented.' The new version feels more cohesive, so I like it better.

If there's anything that needs adjusting, I think it's mainly the character's position—it could be moved up a bit.

Also, the flock of birds in the lower left currently forms a circular shape. I feel it might conflict with the red circle above. I'd suggest changing the formation of the birds to an elongated shape (by removing a few birds from the top and bottom).

Of course, these are very minor issues. Overall, I think your design is really good.

Good idea! I have a bunch of photos of a local graveyard in the fog, and I could make a composite image of those!

So, I'll put in my two cents. I actually like the old one. Like the background and everything. Is it possible to just add your character in among the graves? Plus, the old one looks more professional. The new one looks hobbled together.

Sorry. Just giving my honest opinion. I've seen a lot of covers either self-published and on other platforms. You're not supposed to tell if it is self-published or not.

I really love the original one, maybe because I’m so used to it! The new version is super cool, especially with the added character, but I think I still prefer the old font and the graveyard. They really capture the vibe and what the story is about. Since I love the character addition, maybe there's a way to combine them? I made a quick sketch of what I was imagining, I hope you like the idea!!
