Help with attractive male characters

Basically all of my crushes are typecast villain/horror actors and one musician who had serious mental problems.

If an actor ends up disturbing me with their performance, chances are I'll get a crush on them. XD Basically this is me -

I have too much fun with male characters...which is bad whenever I intend to have the focus on a female protagonist, suddenly I find myself giving more development to that male side character that I'm all infatuated with....I FAIL AT GIRL POWER. >.< I'm like, "well, I could easily just change this person into a girl....but....but......BOYZzzz...."

....but I wish I was better at making both male and female faces more distinctive from each other because I actually prefer faces with character as opposed to straight-up pretty boys/girls most of the time. Well, working on it. XP

I say this as the mocked amongst my peers person who finds Steve Bucsemi to be attractive.

For whatever reason feminine looking men seem to be very popular with the ladies (dare I say with a younger age group as well?), but I personally prefer super manly looking dudes. Not the ones on steroids but just..dudes that look like dudes, not bishounen.

Personally, I think that the most attractive traits tend to be intelligence, confidence, and kindness. Women like guys who make them laugh because it shows a level of intelligence. You can represent a comedic streak by making a male character's face very expressive. Confidence is about how they carry themselves. Pay close attention to posture and positioning. He doesn't need to be strutting about like a rooster in the hen house, but he shouldn't be actively trying to make himself look smaller, as if he was trying to avoid being noticed. Kindness is in actions but it can show on the face if you're mindful of the corners of the mouth and the slant of the eyebrows in their respective resting positions. The resting face should hint at the character's most natural state of mind, so try drawing that first and then figure out how he would stretch it.

As for comic characters, I think as long as you give your guys a symmetric face and big, soulful eyes, you'll have swooning fangirls in a matter of seconds.

Great question! My answer is... I'unno. haha. There's not really a standard for male attractiveness. Like, going through the images other girls had posted, I disagree with almost all of it : O. But I do agree it's about type and personality. Some girls go for pretty eyes, some go for grins. With my comic Kindred Skies I just made all the boys different, and people will find some of them attractive, and some of them not. (I totally fall under the trap of drawing feminine boys though, but that's a bad habit I'm trying to break. Too many years drawing pretty girls.)
You can focus on symmetry, and cool hair, or whatever, but I think mostly it comes down to personality.
If you wanted my two-cents about actual boys, I agree with @Kaykedrawsthings- when they're funny, they're cute. Like, I have a thing for Charlie Day, and I don't even know why I do. If you're looking for drawing reference, most of the boys from Sailor Moon is a good place to start, I'd think. And boys from CLAMP series.

hmm.. noses, that's something I'm trying to get better at. And yeah hair, since we have a smaller variety of hairstyles I tend to have difficulties with this one.

And uhm from my observation,people(/girls) often gush over guys that have one or more of these types : cool/silent/cold/playful/flirty/bouncy/intellectual/high confidence/pretty.
So hmm what I'm trying to say is that I guess it does not really matter how you draw it but on how you show it. Its a comic after all.
