All of my cast were abducted at some point to serve in the tazdahir. So their parents aren't really around in the story yet and I don't have any digital art of them.
Najm is part of a clone race and whatever bio parents they could've had are long long dead. I think the main person their DNA is derived from was a model or actor that committed treason and was turned over for government experimentation. Their main parental figures are their Drill Sargeant from when they were on the sniping team on their planet and a blind former sniper. Both of these people were kind to Najm and taught them to be kind to anyone they could, but they were in the middle of a war so Najm was also taught not to ask too many questions and to always get the job done. The drill Sargeant was brash and abrasive and loved to be alive, and the blind sniper was compassionate and sparky. Both of them died, one by the Tazdahir, one by the war.
Alya was neglected awfully by their parents and family, and was left to starve on several occasions, Alya rationalizes this as poverty, which would be true if her parents didnt keep horses, which were not left to starve. They had some librarians who did care about them and are the reason they didn't just die. Alyas father was abusive but mostly absent, Alyas mother was more present but only loved alya when they didn't cause 'problems'. Alya was a middle child of 7 with the eldest having their own children while still living with the parents. They probably would've been neglected without the poverty, but they also probably wouldn't have been born without it. They are still alive during the story.
Qamar had good parents and a stable childhood, they grew up wanting to be a doctor and with their mom being a butcher they had alot of "hands on learning" their father was a lawyer and spent a lot of time away working with clients, but he still made time for them. Everything would've been fine if the tazdahir wasn't forcing their town to gradually give up all their citizens. Starting with criminals, then elderly, then certain professions, then children. When the time comes for Qamar and their brother to be given up. Their mother takes extreme measures to stall their family being taken away. This doesn't work in the end. Their parents are also still alive.
Rahat never met their parents, they were abducted when they were too young to remember them. They had a bio mom, non-bio mother and a bio dad who was friends with both of them. They didn't shape them much, though Rahat has a lot of similarities with their father and non-bio mom. Loves planets and meteorology, not great moral compass and difficulty connecting with others. Since their abduction they've had parental figures come and go, and no concrete connection to anyone in particular (apart from Zoha)
Some of that may have been a spoiler ig but if it's not in the comic then it's not set in stone. None of it was too major.
