How can you tell if someone's blocked you?

So recently, I went to go reread a series I'm subscribed to, only to find it and everything else the creator did plus their main profile led to a 404 page, yet they still seemed to be relatively active on TAPAS despite that (liking other peoples' comics and such). Later, I decided to start a group PM chat here with them and some friends, only to get a rejection message that said "Username of Person In Question is unavailable/not accepting messages right now. Please try again later." What does that all mean? Because I asked them about it on the forum later and they said that there was a reason I couldn't see their main Tapas page. Does this mean I was blocked by them on both the main site and here? Or does it mean something else entirely?

That's possible, though as I said before: it seems that they are still active on Tapas and after I found that out and asked on another PM thread they said they were still around on the forums. So the plot thickens, I guess....

Unfortunately, we had a falling out a few weeks ago that was the culmination of some tensions over some creative differences revolving around crossover between our works and some others' works as well that had been brewing over the past few months and they said we aren't on speaking terms anymore. They might have blocked me due to afterwards, I tried to contact them multiple times to start rebuilding our friendship only to get no response from them.

Considering there was a fallout between you two, yeah it sounds like you got blocked. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Dang, That's what I was afraid of... So if someone blocks you on Tapas you just get a 404 page of their stuff? That's honestly a pretty terrible system if you ask me.

You and your puppy had a falling out or you and the person. Anyway, I'm sorry. I learned the hard way that you really can't worry about those that abandon you. You have to let them go. Pretend they died if you have to. Life is too short and fragile to worry of a friend who treats you like you don't exist. Sorry if I'm being harsh. My mouth goes out the window when someone abandons their friend like an asshole.

Yeah, that's what I've been learning, thought it was kind of my fault that we had a falling out. (I didn't voice growing concerns with the crossover until it built up so much that I exploded at them, which was the unfortunate incident that got the ball rolling to where we are now... Not helped by me going through a rough emotional patch in my life at the time that just made me kinda sour and prickly in general over the next few months, even when I tried to make amends during that time only for them to not stick for very long for one reason or another.)

It's too bad, really. We hit it off really, really well when we first met on that crossover. SO it's a shame that it had to turn out like this, and all for some stupid reasons that could have been easily avoided in hindsight....

you do get the 404 page on the persons comics/novels and profile when they block you, speaking out of experience here of being blocked by a popular novel author

You're right but some things are unavoidable. Eventually, people grow, leave and or die. Just gotta keep moving forward. XD...But also take a hint that maybe just maybe, they were jealous of you and your hardwork melted their existence.

Honestly, why not just do like other social media sites do and just tell you that they've blocked you instead of doing that? Much less confusing in that case. (Also dang, I wanted to make a TVTropes page for their works as well....)

Ok I'm chiming in now.

I've had a stalker before. So frankly? This 404 option? I 100% support it. Maybe it's overkill in some cases, but honestly I'd rather have that than for it to be easier for the person to track me down again.

Actually I've had a stalker in real life....that was terrible
