How do I make the time period clear (80s)?

The only Nintendo system I remember came out in the late 80s- but still the fact was back then you had to be one of those families who made a buttload of $ to get the first NES system. It's not like nowdays where everyone walks in a store & buys a PS4 or a laptop computer. Me saying "NO Nintendo & NO computers" dont mean there werent any; it was a case where your family had to be doing REALLY well to afford these things. I'm an 80's kid...

I bought my 1st NES system in the early 90's- when I was in high school & made enough money(with my own after school job) to get one.

That jibes with my experience. Dad loved his tech; but release-wise, we were behind on most consoles, undoubtedly as a result of expense. This seemed to be the norm where we grew up (Northern Kentucky),

So, in 1984, we had the Odyssey 2. In 88', we had the Atari 7800, but playing 5200 games, which got us to the 90's. Therefore, no Nintendo for us in the 80's. Our first actual, true-blue, at-release console was the SNES in 1992-ish, because Super Mario Bros was the bomb. That's when I was in college.

Edit: To be fair to bakasama25, there was a guy in college who brought a NES with him that he had from release, but he was a little rich sh... er, I mean, he was well off, lol.

Funny thing about NES/Famicom is that it was released in Japan around 1982, it only got released in the US a few years later. The people I knew had the NES early were people who had dads in the military and those were middle class folks. I guess not paying sales tax made buying those a bit easier.
