How do people get custom covers for their novels?

I was grinning like an idiot while reading your post because around four months ago, I had made an exact thread as a newbie.

First of all, hello! I like fantasy romance too, so I'll check out your story when time permits. You can also promote your story in threads that call out for promotions here.

It would be beneficial if, besides the link, you write down:
1. The title
2. The genre
3. And the blurb of your story while promoting it for the first time.

As for the pictures, try un-splash for free photos. Most of the covers here are either commissioned work by artists from Tapas or from other sites like devianart, or drawn by writers who are also artists. But you can also do it by yourself. People here have already recommended useful ideas, so you shouldn't have a problem.

I commissioned my covers from @joannekwan. I was looking for someone to commission for character portraits and saw someone on these forums mention that she did commissions. I knew who she was because I really enjoyed her comics especially Demon House so I commissioned her for several character portraits. I saw that she had created a cover for another writer when looking at her samples and decided to commission her for my covers as well.

I think Twitter is a good place to look, I've noticed the artists I follow will list if they have commissions open. The best place to start is the artists you’re already a fan of. If an artist, you like doesn’t have commissions open look at their profile and see if they’ve Re-tweeted someone who does.
