That's really interesting, but also, I imagine it protects against something like burnout. I can kind of relate to being motivated by outside validation. The reason probably finished my upcoming chapter as fast as I did is partially because some friends of mine reacted so positively to the last one. On the flipside, since they're my only stable audience, I feel like I can't go too far ahead because I don't want to overwhelm them with a backlog.
Yeah! Backlogs are the only way I've been able to keep up a schedule. Churning out novels that fast sounds like a NIGHTMARE. I can't imagine doing more on top of that.
Establishing a set break time sounds like a good idea, especially if you plan to keep up a schedule. Don't be too hard on yourself, though!
