How do you get high up in popularity section?

Okay, Glassflower has been jumping around the 10-20 area of Action-Fantasy in terms of popularity, but how? Some days I got a couple hundred views, but I didn't seem to rise much, and now today, as of writing this, Glassflower is number 13, but also today I've gotten way less views than on Saturday. Sundays tend to be slower days for me, but that's just what's confusing. Is there a delay to going up, and what determines going up? Is it just views? Or are likes important too? It seems like it should be pretty straight forward, but I'm wondering about the statistics of how this works

I'm not sure how much it has changed since a few years ago, but it used to be a ratio between subs and engagement? So if you had low subs but all of them read every page, liked, and commented, it would boost your rankings significantly. (Which is a big part of why people advised not to do sub for sub.) There's likely more to it than that, but that's been my understanding of how it works for a while.

I don't know what the algorithm is, but you need to be doing better on views that day than the other ones in your category, with a boost for subs and also for doing well in general. I've been at the top of my genre before but I'm having to climb the ranks again since I switched primary genre listings.
