Basacly, I want my novel to get noticed by the common reader, but my novel has never been featured, so the only place where people can stumble upon my work is in the explore section.

Now, the explore section seems to go by popular by default, but the works there seem to by sorted how at random?

I've seen series with more views, subs and kudos positioned under mine, and also saw series with less views and etc. positioned over mine.

Does the popular section actually fallow a specific order or is it really just all random? Cause I want to know how I can get my novels closer to the top of the list.

I think it depends on how much recognition it gets in a specific amount of time. For example, if a comic or novel gains more views in an hour than your novel does, then it will be put higher than your because it is still more popular, even if it has less views or subs. I think that’s how it works, idk I’m just using my reasoning.

I think someone here also said it has something to do with how often you update? Like, if you do it every day, you have a higher chance of being featured than if you do it once a week.

for the popular sections, I think, of depends on views/likes/comments/subs over a certain amount of time.
and then there is a difference between the site and the app at what spot you are

From my observations, the main, or possibly even sole criterion seems to be how many likes you've had over a fairly short period of time (maybe a few days?). Being in a smaller, less popular genre (action) it's easy for me to track my performance compared to similar comics and to see the relationship between surges in likes and jumping up the rankings in my category.

Because it only tracks based on recent likes, not cumulative likes, any comic that gets a surge of them can rocket up the rankings at any time, even if it's been on hiatus. Frequent updates mean you'll be more consistently getting likes and appear more consistently in the higher spots, which means you're more visible, which means more bookmarks, which means more likes, so consistent updates do help, but in a roundabout way.

In other words, if you want to do somebody a solid, like all their pages in a short period of time. I've had days where a couple of new readers liked all my pages and my comic leapt really far up the genre rankings.

Like the others have said, it depends on the amount of interaction within a certain timeframe. I have never been featured anywhere but my novel remains near the top of the sci-fi section because I have a small core of people actually reading and engaging with the story. As for getting your novel out there, make use of the forums here for self-promo! You'll likely make friends too! <3
