How does the Tapas algorithm work?

So i've always wondered on what basis a certain novel or comic appears or doesn't on somebody's newsfeed (when they aren't subscribed to it) does it depend on how many subs it has? (the more subs the more likely it appears) or on how recently it has updated? (so that your work is more likely to appear when you update it frequently) or both, or none?

A year or two ago, that use to support indie artists comics, now they're all about who is popular.

Well yeah, there's no Newsfeed. If you look through Community comics, they first appear by "Popular", but you can sort it by Fresh or Binge, etc.
I don't know how Popular works, because the comics there are just... all lumped together with no particular idea it seems, those with a lot of subs and few and the update date doesn't seem to matter

The base measurement for the "popular" rankings is recent likes (in the space of 2-3 days), but there's clearly something else that happens at higher numbers that keeps certain popular works near the top even during a hiatus. I've no idea what this other factor is.

On anything under thousands of subs though, the main factor is just "did you get over 30-50 likes in a 72 hour period?" and if the answer is "yes", you'll probably find your comic somewhere in the popular rankings in your genre, especially if you filter to community/free to read.

SHOOOOOOOOOT. Okay, now THAT makes so much sense. Def thinking about slicing up my episodes and posting them back to back Friday and Saturday (I'm like literally always ten likes or five likes away from 30 every three days lmao). Hopefully that'll give me a boost (def thinking something like Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays now since my episodes are so damn long already). Thanks so much!

On the novel side of things, I always see my novel on the Popular list when I scroll down a bit. It was even somehow higher on the list than usual when I was on hiatus. It seems that "The Beginning After the End" is constantly at the top even when I filter to All Genres though. The weirdest thing of all is that I find random novels with barely any likes/views/subscribers just lumped between the rankings that make more sense. I'm not saying that I dislike that the novels with less attention get more exposure time than novels with more attention, but it's very confusing.

I wonder, if those novels have many pages jet. I have heard years ago, that the "page/overal views" ratio is a thing. But I am not sure at all if this is true.
