How good could a stickfigure comic be?

I'm still forming my digital art style on my pc, but in the meantime I decided to create a stickfigure comic that I've already mostly thought out ideas for (several story lines and characters). Do you think it would turn out good? The comic is called SNC, I already have the first few pages out, and I'm gonna try to upload a page a day.

if youre just doing stick figures then i hope the story is good or something, bcuz most people really focus on art and stick figures dont have a lot going on lol

One word: xkcd ...Oh wait, that's not a word XD

In case of xkcd, it works because:

1) The writing is excellent.

2) The stick figure art has a cool synergy with the stick figure art; some of the jokes actually work better because you can't see their expressions/ details.

3) it's GOOD stick figure. The art manages to communicate body languages and such very clearly, and it's easy to tell different recurring characters apart. The proportions are always very consistent; you never see a character randomly getting one longer leg, etc.

4) Sometimes they include detailed environments when the writing calls for it, and those environments are well drawn without clashing against the stick figures.

In short, yes, it could be good, but it's not going to be easier than using a more detailed art style. There are many different paths to excellence, but there is no shortcut!

I think if the writing is strong enough to hold on its own, most readers will be forgiving of a drop in art quality or stick figures. Webcomics come is a vast array of all art styles and skills and some of the more popular one don't have beautifully rendered painterly artwork. A lot of the more funny ones are stick figure.

Strips like Cyanide & Happiness are very clever, popular, and use stick figures.

I've actually seen stick figures in webcomics before, but most of the comics were comedy. I don't think they'd work for anything else, though.

I have a story thought out. They are separated into different arcs. Each arc should be more detailed than the last also. The first is a tournament arc, showing the formation of the main team, second arc deals with another group fighting against the enemy, rouge agents and the snc team, the third arc introduces a new enemy and more plot and background of the first arc, so forth.

I think can stick figure comics can be pretty great if they have good writing, but I think they can only really succeed if they take a comedic route. I don't think a primarily dramatic/serious comic would work well with the art though, because its hard to convey drama with stick figure art, and a lot of people just don't take stick figures seriously.

Yeah, that could work. How are you going to draw the backgrounds?

Using paint.net. It'll depend on the area. The first pages are in the plains, so the background will be simple. It'll transition to a desert, where there will be more sandy hills and such. Then it'll transition to a woodland area, a lot of trees and more detail, then the tournament ring.

That's good. It makes it easier for people to understand stickman comics, that's all.

One last thing. I was thinking, for each arc there are a few chapters, at least 10. Usually, I'd think of those as episodes, but on here since I'm uploading separate pages, there will be a couple of pages for each chapter, like maybe 10 to 20 as an estimate. And since there's at least 10 chapters, that's a lot of pages, then there will be other arcs too. Should I just make a separate comic for each arc, or continue it all together as a whole? Cause it seems that when I scroll through multiple pages, I start to lag. Idk, it might just be me.

I wouldn't start a new comic. You lose a lot of people that way. You're better off having a lot of pages then having people search for and find your new story.

stick figures are a great idea if your humor is in the actual text , or if you can draw a really good face expression on that stick figure.
but remember that its the quality of the drawing that attracts the viewers , but the text is what makes them stay
