Meet the Paper Brothers, aka the Brorigamis, aka Kimura Taiyou and Kimura Jaden, also known as Tai/Ty Kimura and Jay Kimura. On the heroing job, Taiyou is called Papyrus, while Jayden is called Jagged Edge. These hero names are actually pretty terrible so feel free to come up with something new.
Catchphrase: Jaden: "Seriously". Cracks knuckles when about to get down to business, angry or nervous.
Tai: does fingerguns when wanting to make a point.
Jaden: tries to says something witty or do something traditionally heroic
Tai: destroys the mood with something funny like a pun
(tbh I have no clue of a good catchphrase for them so feel free to come up with something.)
Taiyou is the one on the left and is the younger brother by a year, while Jaden is the one on the right with the zipped up vest. Taiyou is shorter than Jaden. Their outfits are based off Japanese Ninja's combined with military. colors are up to you, tho dark colors would be preferred (also feel free to add paper decorations lol.)
Taiyou:
Taiyou is a cheerful kid who smiles and laughs a lot and can see the bright side of pitch black darkness, who loves socialising with others and making them laugh. Has problems taking things seriously, and specialises in making animals and shurikens. Sneak tactics are his forte - not surprising, as he has a tendency to hide what he truly feels behind a polite smile and a talent at deception. He's a pretty childish guy though, so he's easy to distract - in fact, the reason he's in the heroing business is because he wants to watch over his older brother Jay, have family bonding, and to have fun. Seriously his main reason is pretty much girls, friends, girls. He likes the excitement, as he's a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Still, despite his habit of clowning around, he's a decent fellow who's tough to make angry, and can be expected to do the right thing.
Jaden: To put it simply, someone who tries way too hard to be an edgelord hero and constantly fails at it, combined with blushes and a ton of denial.
Jaden, in contrast to Taiyou's cheery smile, has a constant frown on his face. He rarely smiles, and is proud of it. He's a snarky, serious kid who's got a bit of a short fuse, and nerves of steel. While his brother is the clown that makes people laugh, Jaden is the grouchy man in the room who focuses on work and nothing but work and rarely talks to people. If he does, its pretty terse and often focused on the sane option, something his brother often covers up for. A bit like batman in that he has no sense of humor and treats everything as serious business, only his attempts at emulation ends up making him look like Isaac from Paranormal. Even his fighting style is opposite Taiyou's - Taiyou prefers far ranged, but Jaden prefers short range and folding his paper into weapons like swords or daggers.
Oddly enough, Jaden's serious batman-esque behaviour is because its what he believes a hero to be - cool, strong, competent, completely serious and focused on the job. He's actually a bit of an innovative goof and easily embarrassed, like a normal person, but hides it from the others underneath a stoic, mature persona, something Taiyou finds much pleasure at breaking by pointing out all the times he goofed, much to Jaden's detriment. Not helping is his short temper, which affects his attempts to seem like a mysterious, cool person.
He has a lot of expectations about what heroes and villains should and should not do, rendering him somewhat inflexible and easily surprised, but when convinced can come up with crazy ideas like Taiyou. Still, despite being Taiyou's opposite in near everyway, Jaden does share a lot of things with Taiyou - they both like most of the same things and have a strong moral core, and they never, ever give up on something they've started.
Relationship:
Taiyou looks up to his brother Jaden as his role model - someone to be admired and respected. He loves his older brother almost to the point of idolisation, but at the same time he sees his flaws and won't hesitate to call him out if necessary, or tease him to bits either. He gained his joking attitude from trying to make his brother smile, after all. Jaden, for his part, attempts to be an older role model for Taiyou (partially why he's so serious all the time), and even if he grouses and snarks with his brother, is also very protective of Taiyou and takes his teasing in good nature. They're very close, and if one is threatened the other is sure to attempt to help.
Powers: Can control paper. Mostly in the form of origami. For example, they fold a crane and they make a living paper crane, and an origami sword would have a cutting sharp edge and generally gain the properties of a real sword, minus the weight. A rolled up poster would also serve as a badly made club. However, they can only control paper and its variations, are weak to wetness and getting torn apart with sharp objects, and as there is no growth ability, they have to make lifesized replicas in order to use it to its full ability.
History:
So, what with Jaden being an utter edgelord and all, you'd expect a tragic backstory, right? Not exactly...
Jaden and Taiyou were brought up in Japan by a loving mother and father, although they were often busy and left Jaden looking after Taiyou. Their dad was often ill, and Jaden and Taiyou folded hundreds of origami cranes and shapes as a bonding hobby and to help her get better (paper cranes are a symbol of hope and healing in Japan). A lot of time was spent with their dad, who taught them how to turn paper alive and make detailed sculptures. Sadly, it didn't work - whe Jaden was seven, their dad died from illness, and their mom grew super busy attempting to provide for two kids.
Jaden ended up taking care of Taiyou, and they both poured over the comic books their dad had left behind, working on origami and leaving it as an offering near the shrine. Taiyou doesn't really remember his father, but Jaden did, and he was devastated - he turned pretty gloomy, and when he worked on origami Taiyou could sometimes hear him muttering under his breath as if he were talking to their dad's ghost. It was pretty creepy, so Taiyou took up to behaving like a clown to make Jaden smile again, which turned into a way to get attention and friends in class and social situations. Jaden, for his part, recovered from the grief, although he remained a serious, mature child.
Naturally, that's not the end of their story. When Jaden was ten, the Kimura family got caught in a robbery situation. A half-foreigner rescued them - and they grew in love. By the time Jaden was 12, Miss Kimura had remarried and moved overseas with her new husband Anthony Kai Jackson. Anthony was a kind and good man, and all in all Taiyou and Jaden lead a pretty good and loving life overseas (Taiyou adapted faster than Jaden did) until Jaden got the idea to try to be a hero. Taiyou tagged along, and thus was Washi and Papyrus created.
