The idea behind Supernova was to create my own “saturday morning cartoon” with my own heroes saving the day. I know a lot of kid’s shows are usually cheesy and what not, but one of my favorite things was when a show would have a really dark arc and things get a little more serious. It starts off in the “glory days”; 3rd grade superheroes always saving the day. But then they start to grow up, and the bad guys start getting more and more dangerous.
In a sense, it’s a “slow burn” though the early stories are appropriately short and sweet. A year passes with each arc (and I just finished my first arc today!) so eventually they’ll be in middle school with new powers but also new, more powerful foes.
Tone-wise, I would like to think as the grade school years resembling something like the “Powerpuff Girls.” It’s all kind of cute and silly.
The middle school years would be more like “Teen Titans(OG series),” where it’s still fun, but gets a bit more edge.
And then the High School years... We’ll talk about the high school years later...
But most of all, I love my characters. Marisol, Elizabeth, Jaleesa, Toru, and Noah. It’s so fun to bring their personalities to life and watch them grow as the years pass.
