This looks like a lot of fun. I love characters drawn in different styles and cultures. Here's my superhero duo: The J and Sleepy Bear.
The J is very optimsitc about the justice system. So much so that the thought that there might be orginized crime under the watch of his police captain father enrages him.
He's also very selective with his trust, which is a good and bad thing. He trust his father and best friend Abe, but not anyone he doesn't know the true motives to. (He didn't trust Sleepy Bear when they first met because SB was created by a supervillain). Like any good hero he puts the lives of others before himself and he's pretty resourceful.
I should reiterate that his dad is a police captain, so you can also think of The J as an "officer-in-training". In terms of powers, he's more acrobatic/fast than strong. (Also he jokes a lot).
One more thing. I draw his hair flat every time no matter the angle (like Mickey Mouse's ears), but you can go more realistic with spiky hair. Just make sure it flows ehiter to the right or left of his head.
So Sleepy Bear is an android who is using The J's old teddy bear as a way to not appear frightening to people. He very short ('bout 2 1/2 feet) but can strech his limbs. He's more child like than The J, more trusting. Due to being powered by the same alien creature as The J, they share a small psychic bond. They can't talk to each other in the mind but they have an instinctive awareness of what the other will do. This helps them work together in fight.
Since robots probably don't exsit in "Heart of Keol", I was thinking you could make Sleepy Bear a mystical spirit or something.
If you want a better understanding of their realtionship so far, check out Page 9 and Page 15 of Book 3.
