I actually thought of the basic story and main character at least 7 years ago, but never worked on it. This year, after struggling with many things, I suddenly had the inspiration and in just a few hours, while sitting alone in the night, I came up with the whole plot for the story. I also focus a lot on the small details, like a character's habits, which gets pretty hectic.

My story, Struck By You is something that I wrote after one archery class I had back in college. I wrote it in two days. A lot of revisions later I'm working the bring it to life.

I used to name the different seasons of my story after card suits, but decided to stick with a more conventional naming system. The MC's name is based on a playing card (the Ace card)

Fun fact about my story: Jano & Clark was at first a french animatic series I used to do when I was 12. I essentially spent the last 14 years ever since writing, plotting and thinking about this story, these characters and the lore on-and-off basis.

My story was originally sparked by a character death in Vampire Diaries.
Spoilers for a +10 year old show: Aunt Jenna’s death made me so mad that I wrote a story about an aunt that kills vampires to protect her niece.
Jenna’s death will haunt me but I’m thankful for how it inspired me lol

Got the idea for my series when my wife and I was driving my son around so he would sleep, he had a cold and nights had been pretty long for us for a while but he had a good long sleep in the car as she drove around for like 2hrs. I got pretty bored and then for some reason I had a weird shower thought, then another, then I thought about building a series around it, my wife thinks I'm mad, I had to get it done so it got out of my head. Its done and probably a tad too niche but it was fun to write and I'm glad to get it out there, even if its not for everyone.

Fun fact: Quite a portion of the main characters in 'Rooted Together' were supposed to appear in an old webcomic idea of mine about a monster hunter travelling Europe for work.
After that one fell through, I took some of the characters and put them more in a slice-of-life situation, basing on stuff and the places I grew up in.

I looove stories that have been so long in the making they become an integral part of the creator's life. It's so interesting to look back at your characters and see how they've grown with you.

My Webcomic actually is the drawn version of a roleplaygame between my best friend and me. We are writing the story with all its lovely characters over a year now (and still not finished haha).

The first time i got hit from her by a great cliffhanger /story changer was the moment I decided to draw it, because i thought: Wow, if you read this as a comic, your brain will go boom.

And now I'm totally obsessed with it XD.

People age normally until puberty, then hit a plateau around 25-30 where aging dramatically slows, allowing 200+ year lifespans! That "middle-aged" village guard Henrik? He's actually 100-120 years old. The gruff smith Thrain looks weathered but is 230 years old, and his people, the Delvarin, can live up to 1,000 years!
Magic is Racially Hereditary and Absolutely Restrictive
Each race has strict genetic limitations: Elkin are locked to Light/Wind/Sound/Water magic and Time magic is forbidden to them, Delvarin (the reimagined dwarves) can only use Earth/Fire/Gravity/Magma and absolutely cannot touch Water magic, while beast-like Skathari are bound to Life/Death/Shadow. Only humans can access all elements, but they need rituals and study, not raw power.
The "Dwarves" Aren't Short, They're Intimidating Powerhouses
Forget tiny fantasy dwarves! The Delvarin are stocky but tall beings, master smith Thrain stands 6'1" with incredibly muscled arms from centuries of forging. They're powerful, imposing smiths and warriors who've earned their reputation through strength and skill, not comic relief.

Each element carries inherent traits that influence wielders: Fire magic breeds passionate, volatile personalities; Ice preserves memory and brings clarity; Death magic creates stillness and judgment. Regional laws reflect relationships with specific magics, some elements are worshipped, others are outlawed, creating complex political dynamics across the Shattered Realms.

My novel is more of a third-person autobiography than it is an ordinary slice of life tale. Everything that happened is true! Me and my friends worked on putting it together in all our perspectives so we can emphasize this story's relationships. We've been writing little mementos of special moments since 2019 and this is our finished product!

Although it wasn't an Isekai novel in and of itself, my first two November challenge related works were in this same universe back in 2015 and 2016. Furthermore, the idea for this project is initially from 2016, although the current version of the story is vastly different from what it was initially.
