Is English your first language?

English is my second language, my native one is portuguese, from Brazil. Actually, when I planned to publish my novel at tapas I was wondering just about that. I was asking myself if it was worth to publish my chapters both in english and portuguese, trying to reach a higher public. I end up doing this, but I still don't know how efficient this can be.

My native language is Russian, English is my first foreign language. I also learned French at school, so I still remember some grammar and vocab, but it's barely anything there. Got my bachelor degree in China and trying not to forget Chinese since 2013. Learning Japanese right now, because dear god I know so much of it thanks to watching anime, it's time to become better xD I would also like to win a battle of learning German, but so far German is winning

Yes, English is my first language, and the only one I'm fluent in lol. I know a few words and phrases in Spanish, Japanese and French, but not enough to hold a convo. I feel I should really get into Spanish more since it's a secondary language here in the States.

Technically, no? I'm Filipino, so I guess technically tagalog is my first language... but also, I'm like, not very comfortable in speaking it and prefer speaking in English. I'm not bad at speaking it or anything, and I speak Tagalog sorta regularly IRL, but if anyone asks me to make a fancy essay in Tagalog I will literally die

I wasn´t able to speak english when I left school, my english was a mix from what I heard
on MTV and song lyrics. I learned it all from touring around the world and talking to people

no I am Dutch, so Dutch is my first language. English is my second language though.

Yeah, when you're trying to learn on your own, any language is a big hurdle. I took ASL for my high school and college language requirements, so the learning was not optional or self directed. And of course, every individual, dyslexia or not, is going to be different.

My first language is English and I’m learning German. I used to know a decent amount of BSL but where I haven’t used it in almost 10 years I’ve forgotten most of it (gonna start relearning soon tho). Since I‘m from Cornwall I also know a bit of Cornish but since it‘s a dead language and mostly just used decoratively on signs my pronunciation and grammar is pretty non-existent.

Nope my native language is Italian, but English is my second language and Spanish is my third one. My teachers always tell my I'm very good and often times I get mistaken for an american, since my pronunciation is really on point

I'm American, so yeah English with the American spelling is my first. I know some alternate spellings/phrases for the British English. I also know a lot of Tex-Mex words/slang since I'm in Texas (Y'all, Vato, pasiwate aka behave/calm down, chulo/chula). Then I know a little bit of Mexico Spanish (valley area and mexico city versions of words) cuz of my grandma with the occasional spain versions of words. Little bit of german from my mom (she lived over there when she was little) and sign language (from being really little in school taught briefly). A tiny bit of hindi from a friend. Then bits and pieces of other languages from choirs and theater and of course a few dead lanuages (writing only) for my comic due to using gods as some of the characters.
