No better time than the present to try! If it's something you're passionate about, you can only gain from the experience of trying something out. Even if you're not initially happy with the product, I think drawing, comic making especially, is one of those things where the best way to learn is by doing!
Plenty of people have already mentioned- just be sure to keep a healthy balance with your project and your other life commitments: school primarily, and work/ extracurriculars if you have them. I wouldn't stress about keeping a strict updating schedule or anything like that- you'll just stress yourself out. Professional (as in serialized/ contracted) webcomic artists work on terrible deadlines 90% of the time, so please don't hold yourself to that standard!
There's no better feeling in my opinion than seeing through a creative project. It helps me to set little goals- like finish one episode by this date, or have this many episodes drafted, etc. Have fun with it! Best of luck , and happy creating
