Yikes. Unless you're immortal, that's too big a gap (I have a few ocs that would be hard pressed to find anyone WITHIN 20 years of them, one is an 105 year old dragon)

He's really just extra and silly. He knows he's failing at flirting, but also kinda winning since his bestie likes him anyway even if she does consider him a little MUCH at times lol.

Also as a side note: how old is this art??! You’ve had such a jump in quality in art, I’m telling you you’re moving so fast with learning!

lol. I do a combination of poetic/romantic and quirky/silly. Since my couples are almost always people who have been friends for a long time they just ike teasing each other a little (or a lot), but that doesn't mean that they can't also be pretty flirty and romantic (tbh, Alicia is a lot more flirty than Kat, ad Chili is much flirtier than Texas, but they sometimes balance out) there are more romantic/poetic scenes in DITRD than any of my other series rn tho.

I just don’t know how to write them so I don’t Everyone has a different strong suit. But whenever the rare occasion pops up where I do write actual romance between characters they’re a bit dorky and nervous themselves.

Aye, just do what you enjoy I say. Forcing yourself to try to write what isn't your thing probably would just turn out weird anyway, tho that's not a problem if cringe or weird is what you're going for lol. I think dorky/nervous romantic scenes can be fun when i don't just feel really bad for the characters. (says she who is about to make one of her male leads go through something so awky it gave me second hand shivers)

Agreed, it’s very not okay. Locket is technically immortal, but she’s newly so, and she’s in her 40s in the main story. In that comic tho she’s only 22, so very ick. It’s not supposed to be romantic, it’s def me dissing my characters, mainly just Geoffrey. He’s one of the main antagonists for a reason.

I like that balance, as someone who enjoys quirky/silly things but also likes substance sometimes lol. I don’t have romance as at the forefront but sometimes it sneaks itself into my writing because it naturally fits the plot. Also dorky doesn’t have to be awkward! I think it can be cute in writing, and more relatable too. Although rip your character he’s going to have to suffer the embarrassment of being awkward, sending my regards, RIP little guy ️

yeah, most of my romances work like that. very few whirlwinds, though I have a few whirlwind romances amongst secondary characters like my ML's parents in my novel "Crystal Blue."

And wow! Happy early anniversary I’ve been writing stories since I was 11 but Butter Bee has only existed for a little more than a year! It’s anniversary was this February, I first published it last Valentine’s Day which is so funny to me because people would be sorely disappointed to find that Butter Bee is goofy hours™️ and not very romantic Although I have subplots planned with romance huh ?? Expect it to be very goofy still

whirlwind romance is one that starts very quickly, like love at first sight. my male leads parents became a couple the day they met, hence, the definition of whirlwind. it's the opposite of slow burn, like Alicia and Kattar who took 15 years lol.

That’s awesome though! I’m trying to work on submitting short stories to journals now, as I have nothing published I held myself back a lot because for so long I was afraid of not being the dreaded “good enough”. Also my mental illness really swings me through some crazy blocks ️ I finally feel like I’m living now, although I’m still struggling honestly.

the key to getting over this is believing that everyone who doesn't like your work is just crazy (nah I'm kidding.) but remembering that you write for yourself rather than other's definitely helps.
