He bit the inside of his lip, fighting the rush of doubt that was creeping into his mind. He didn’t want to think his best friend was capable of duplicity, that lying was something he’d mastered so well he could convince anyone.
Anyone but Coby, apparently.
He gave a tiny, imperceptible shake of his head. “He wouldn’t lie,” he said quietly, weakly, almost as though he were trying to convince himself of that truth and failing.
Coby stood and moved around to him, stepping between his legs to wrap his arms around Ash’s shoulders, doing his best to calm his mate’s distressed waves. “I want to believe that, love,” he said softly. “And I think you really do, too.”
Ash’s head fell forward to Coby’s chest. His husband was right. He really did want to believe Colin James wasn’t a liar.

Training montage/time skip! The weeks are flying by now as Ash and Coby up their training. A few new faces are added to the mix, Coby blindsides Ash’s classmates, and Colin determines Coby is a bigger problem than he first realized.
