He bit the inside of his lip, fighting the rush of doubt that was creeping into his mind. He didnât want to think his best friend was capable of duplicity, that lying was something heâd mastered so well he could convince anyone.
Anyone but Coby, apparently.
He gave a tiny, imperceptible shake of his head. âHe wouldnât lie,â he said quietly, weakly, almost as though he were trying to convince himself of that truth and failing.
Coby stood and moved around to him, stepping between his legs to wrap his arms around Ashâs shoulders, doing his best to calm his mateâs distressed waves. âI want to believe that, love,â he said softly. âAnd I think you really do, too.â
Ashâs head fell forward to Cobyâs chest. His husband was right. He really did want to believe Colin James wasnât a liar.

Training montage/time skip! The weeks are flying by now as Ash and Coby up their training. A few new faces are added to the mix, Coby blindsides Ashâs classmates, and Colin determines Coby is a bigger problem than he first realized.
