Yo~
The novels section is often filled with promotion threads, but I figured it'd be good to have a thread that's more a space for working on writing as a craft and a business and seeking advice from other writers if needed. This is a space to post not just resources from other sites, but also any resources you've created yourselves as well.
Thread Rules
1) No self-promotions of your own novels please (linking to someone else's as an example is fine).
2) Be excellent to each other.
3) Post cool stuff you find related to writing, novels and publishing/marketing
Cool Writing Resources
I'm mostly going to link some youtubers here, as they often cover the books they got their ideas from within their videos, and offer great breakdowns on why some things work and other things fall flat.
Fantastic de-construction of a great horror movie and why it works. Also recommend the Gone With The Wind and the video about John Wayne from this creator.
Most people know Lindsay Ellis, but everything she creates is golden.
Big Joel makes some great points here about writing sci-fi and how to do it right (and wrong) using Black Mirror as an example.
I've linked this in the Lovecraft thread before, but hbomberguy does some excellent analysis of various pop culture items and his takes are always refreshing and well-thought out!
Rowan Ellis does some great work on queer cinema and queer issues in general - her most recent one examining 'liberation' versus 'assimilation' is awesome. Those who are including queer characters in their works may find this a goldmine.
I'm just recommending Alexa Donne's whole channel. Perfect for those who want to be trad. published one day.
Short but sweet explainers on various techniques in film writing and visual storytelling with great examples.

This channel chronicles the Science Fiction & Fantasy Marketing Podcast. It's great for if you're looking to get more involved with professionally marketing your works and they have loads of interesting guests.
Folding Ideas has some amazing videos on film techique, but his one on The Book of Henry has a deep-dive into storytelling.
Writing On Games is great, but this one is especially good. So many novels in online platforms would work better as games, and vice versa! This explains why Nier Automata works as a game.
Pop Culture Detective just does an amazing job as a channel at examining loads of different elements of storytelling. I recommend EVERYTHING.
This video is insanely masterful at explaining how to write antagonists and the whole channel in general is great at breaking down how writers achieve certain effects.
