Least favorite chapter/episode and why

For similar reasons, my least favorite episode of my comic is 'The Final Straw of Donnie & Libby & AJ'. It's probably THE episode I feel I really needlessly rushed in terms of writing, and it's definitely the one I've come back to the least. Which hurts, since the episode is a major turning point in the story. Since then though, I'd developed a method for my writing process for each episode. On the plus side, it's one of my favorite pieces of cover art in the series.

Sadly, it's my first two episodes. I want to rework them, but I haven't decided how I would like to. I know their supposed to be the hook that captures the readers but I don't think they do that. I will probably finish my story and then go back and rework everything because if I start now, I will get sucked into the never-ending cycle of editing 🤣

Mine would have to be the finale of Dark Crystals chapter. It's a bit too action heavy for my liking and there's a lot of first person switch. I need to rewrite this chapter in the future.

My least favourite chapter is the last episode of the Prologue because it ends in tragedy. It's hard writing those parts of your story, but they're required for character development.

Personally in Elsie I feel like the arch where Rosemary gets her super strength is my least favorite because I rushed it a bit and it was going to be a lot darker than it is in the final product. Having the subtext dealing with stalking, body shaming and r*pe culture all the nasty things terrible people do. But I cut it out and only fragments of it remain because I didn’t execute it well.

However, aspects of this arch are written well in their own way like giving more character to Rosemary and giving a glimpse of the twins abuse from their mother. So there’s good parts of it.

Overall, this whole arch to me just felt like eh I just wrote it for the plot to move forward and I rushed it.

The characters of Scarborough and his butler didn’t seem fleshed out either so there’s that.

I really didn't like writing chapter 5. It was difficult writing about being stuck in a forest full of monsters. Anyways please check out the rest of my novel!

Chapter 2 of BO (episodes 5-8)

I've kinda realized that writing a really complex world requires a LOT of explaining/world building, but I didn't want the story to get super slow, and I REALLY want to avoid info-dumping, so I kinda had to pick and choose which things were more important for the readers to know juuuuust to prevent it from feeling slow.

Buuuuut the beta readers noticed it anyways. I've been told that more action would've been nicer... ahahaha... Welp, no better way to fix it than to take the advice and use it to become a better writer!

Oof. I hate to admit that there are a lot of eps that I thought looked bad/rushed in my own series.
I'd have to say "Idolators" is the worst as far as its look(think it's the 3rd ep now).

Gray lineart, and I flubbed up the 'silhouettes' - supposed to be black, but just a darker gray.
For some reason,, back then, I didn't want to draw with black lineart cause I thought it made everything (ie my mistakes) look too prominent. And I had mild photo-sensitivity (black on bright white screen means high contrast = eyestrain/headaches/migraines - I actually work at 60% brightness on a gray canvas until the very last stages to color correct now)

That style has long since changed. Unfortunately, I got an old buffer running rn that still reflects this awkward style.

But on the upside, story-wise, one of my favorite interactions (in the older buffer) is uploading tomorrow morning, Episode 42.
Speech balloons are still a teensy cluttered, but I remembered enjoying it once it was finished! Hope you do too!

Mine is also my first episode. The amount of people who view it and never go on to Ep2 is huge! And I don't blame them. It's a pretty slow episode and lots of exposition which I need to restructure, but uuuuugh. Like unless you're super into trains (like my MC is), then episode 1 is a snoozefest.

To be honest, this topic just made me question the plot of the chapter I'm working on right now, is a simple shenanigan, with not much of worldbuilding, but actually explaining more of my MC's daily life, without many emotional impact like the previous chapters. But I'm too deep in the WIP to redo it all now.

I just hope it works well inside the narrative of the whole story in the end.

But right now my least favourite chapter would be the second one, I just regret that I didn't spent much time developing the background as much as I do now, along with the rendering process.

My least favourite episodes are the sad ones but the whole novel or comic can't be sunshine and roses!

Here is some of my work that has sad elements in them.

A romance between demons and vampires.

This is my first comic.

A young Cowfish named Chips journey in learning about the endangered species he shares an ocean with and plastic pollution.

This is my completed novel. A romance between a merman and a human.

Lastly, a vampire/human/werewolf romance/love triangle.

Kristin is happy with the quiet life she leads but then a stranger enters her life and turns it upside down.

It's a struggle to build a captivating start that captures the essence of the story you're trying to create. I get it. But rework later! The best thing we can do is finish our story. 🥺 That's a huge feat in its own right and I'm trying not to let my past episodes slow me down to the point where I get lost in the constant editing stage. (though I would be lying if I didn't say I'm in a slump for episode 17 ) I'll get over it... 🤣

it might help, if you change in the setting of the series the option of "Descending order" which is basically a "show latest episode first". just if you feel insecure about showing the first episode at the top. this way, people might select your latest episode more often.
I kinda share the same thought, mostly because I had a huge evolution from my first page to the latest.

Edit for clarification, you will find the option at the bottom of the series settings.
under Genres and Tags, and over "Mark series as completed"

I would say the beginning is the least favorite because I feel like it doesn't have a hook, in a close second is my current chapter, its not coming out like I would like it to, trying to balance infomation and story pregression.

This is another one I would say the beginnning, because I didn't introdunce the characters, or the story properly.

It would be the second chapter, because I feel like I put too much information with little to no explanation.

My least favorite chapter in my story is probably the fourth one, Decision. I had a hard time composing it and a lot of lines do not sound right in my head... but it's probably just me!

Anyway, the second to the last chapter of my story, Chasing Grief, just got out this week, and the final chapter goes out on Sunday, October 29!

Chasing Grief is a story in poetry form about a woman who lost her love and tries to navigate her feelings of grief, sadness, and loss. She journeys through life, death, and everything in between to find answers to her questions, and maybe reconcile with her heart. This story is full of imagery, feelings, and emotions, so if you're into those, please give this a try!!
