Here’s the thing, i have no definitive style at the moment and kind of always change depending on the mood. And can you tell me what you think of each of these three sketches and maybe plus minuses of each style? Definitely some outsiders perspective will be very helpful. Each of these was made at different time and they don’t have much difference in time consumed when it comes to lineart, maybe the coloring but the last picture definitely isn’t finished yet. I have no preference for either three. Thanks a lot

IMO they look almost the same at a glance except for the third. Only different hair and coloring. I think that would be much better if you draw a same person in these three styles, so a fairer comparison can be drawn.

Style one:

• Plus: Expressive, soft, and colorful. Face is more realistic and refined with details, giving a beautified look.
• Minus: maybe more effort and adjustment needs to be done if it is in a comic because more details and color, might come as too unsaturated in shitty monitors.
• Vibes suitable for: fantasy, sci-fi, romance or drama with soft aesthetic.

Style two:

• Plus: Middle ground of first style refinement and third style's simplicity. Colors are more earthly. This style will easily fit many kind of genres yet I feel is the most unique.
• Minus: some people might question that hair texture, I don't know if it is the style or the character. I personally don't mind it (also why is a strand being in front of they eyebrow, while another is behind it?).
• Vibes suitable for: I feel like this is versatile, but more suited for a serious story.

Style three:

• Plus: close to popular styles commonly use in webcomic (I swear I have seen this style somewhere), expressive big eyes, stronger cell shading than other two makes more effective shading.
• Minus: Looks least refined than the first two (especially the hair), probably not the one to aim if you want a more unique style.
• Vibes suitable for: IDK, maybe versatile. But this has less mature air than the other two.

I actually prefer second style with third style's shading.
This is just an opinion.

Your drawings are fantastic! I guess it depends on the genre of story that you want to go for.
If it's mystery or horror, 3rd one would be a good option, and 1st and 2nd one are better for romance, comedy or fantasy? It's ok to change styles while you make a series, because it means you are learning.

I loled when i noticed the mistake you pointed out but it is a mistake maybe i was sleepy or something when i drew that. I agree the third one is more similar to mainstream, and i don’t know if it’s similar to specific artist type or more general mainstream but maybe at the time i want to try if i could draw in more mainstream style to see if i could but idk that was made over 2 years ago. That’s very detailed feedback, and very informative. Thank you so much.

It’s true that changing style is okay but i feel like the differences are extreme and i don’t know if it’ll be too much lmao anyway these drawings are more experiment style since i very rarely draw girls/female at all and i wanted to see how versatile i was at the time and now it ended up makes me confused lmao. Thanks a lot!

In general my advice regarding "style" is not to stress about it, it'll form naturally over time and will probably change a lot as you're exposed to different influences. Like, when I was younger I absolutely refused to draw the outer edges of nostrils because I didn't like the way they looked, but now it feels weird NOT to include them.

That said, I really like the colors on the first one and it feels much dreamier than the others, but it looks harder to draw consistently. The second one seems more simplistic and is probably a good choice for a comic, where you'd be drawing the same character a LOT. The third one is nice and clean, and is clearly a little more anime influenced than the others (which isn't a bad thing), but the character doesn't seem as alive to me. You mentioned it's not finished though, so that might be part of the issue.

Anyway, again, don't worry too much about this stuff! I draw in different styles just because I feel like it all the time, just draw what makes you happy at any given moment

Omg i super relate to the outer edge of nostril thing i hated it when i was young too now i feel it is kind of essential to the face lmao.
No.3 is definitely not finished lmao i was so lazy i just wanted to see where this style experiment would bring me at the time i guess and didn’t bother finishing it up. I can see why you prefer no.1 and i agree that maybe no.2 is the best pick if i want to draw a comic, since i’ll have to draw faces consistently from all angle. “You don’t need to stress it out” —I think i need to hear this kind of sentence over and over again.
