Hi!

I guess we all want to have eye-catching covers that people will notice since this is probably one of the most important steps how to make people see/read your comic. So I was thinking that it would be cool to share our covers and maybe give each other tips how to make them better and more interesting for readers Colors, compositions, etc All is welcome!

Here is mine. I was thinking to make new one when I reach 2000 subscribers, but not sure.

For yours, I think you might want to make "omen" more visible, by moving it to the front even if it means covering up some of the characters.
Still, it's really eye-catching with the lighting and cleanness.
Please give me some advice on my cover also

I like your cover tho! For me personally it would be more catchy if there was probably 1 character more visible than the others. There is a lot of colors and all of them look important so it is difficult to lead the eye. I'm guessing that middle bottom character is most important one, so maybe keeping him light and maybe even giving him more space and the rest a bit darker / less colors would be nice

Your cover is very clear, but the title needs to be visible.

@kristynamaximova Yeah, you should definitely bring the title to the front instead of hiding it behind the characters and either move it to the bottom (I wouldn't cover the faces), maybe zooming out on characters a little (if it's possible - you've got some cropped out stuff) so that the glowing hand wouldn't get hidden

@Flios Can you tell me what's the point of the yellow border and if it's necessary for it to cut blonde character's nose? If you want to keep a border, I'd go with some chains to go with the title and make sure that characters' faces are fully within the border

@faisalhussein394 The upper part looks really busy and it's a little bit confusing to read ("chapter road to khalija 01" or "chapter 01 road to khalija" the font size and text position suggest the first option), I'd also try to avoid cutting into characters' foreheads so much with it - with the chapter one cover I get a sense that you weren't really thinking about it while drawing the cover.

So... I've got 3 ongoing comics (I suffer through way too many ideas, I know), may I ask for some feedback on these two?

For the third one I know I should redraw it from scratch one day but need to come up with a good idea how to use all the main characters in an interesting way...

@kristynamaximova: I agree with @Flios. I think you should make the "OMEN" more visible. I love the lighting, though! It's definitely an art style that I would've liked to try reading, haha!

@Flios: your cover looks amazing! I love how you divide the characters into different panels. I can tell the difference in personality too! However, I think you can put the yellow border closer to the edge. It covers some of the beautiful characters' eyes.

@animefanka: I almost don't have any tips for your gorgeous covers! For the "Vampire Prince," I think it'll look cooler if you show more blood. Giving a more intense feeling! But it looks amazing regardless~

@BoomerZ Are you able to get away with the nipples? Because Tapas has been cracking down on male nipples... apparently. I'm not sure if they'd allow something like that.

This was a Tapas Community effort lol. Doodle and I had A LOT OF HELP making this baby.

Just looking to see if there can be anything else potentially improved or stuff I missed.

@kristynamaximova Also, yeah I'd make Omen more visible. Maybe in the bottom center? Have the BL thingy in the top left so it can be the first thing people see.

They haven't said anything. I forgot about that rule. I did have to go back through my comic last month for showing nipples through clothes. Cover been up for a while.

I like your cover. As to what you should improve is the hand on the chest it looks weird, since it seems like there is no shoulder/arm movement. Now the arm can be covered by the body but just going by what is visible: the angle of the hand doesn't look natural considering the person on the right is taller so one would expect their arm to be longer.

To fix it I would probably just change the angle from which the hand comes out to make the lenght of the arm be accurate with the height of the boy on the right.

Remember this is my point of view and from my personal experience the hand angle makes it seem like the right arm is in an uncomfortable position.

P.S. besides the weird hand angle I like the coloring and it does feel attractive to the eye.

I would change the colors to something friendlier on a white screen. It is a bit bright especially that neon-like green.
The prologue cover is a bit friendlier in that sense. For the prologue I would suggest working on the hands since the angles and the proportions are a bit off.

Or is the person in the prologue cover grabbing a small hand? In which case you probably need more context like if it is a baby or a kid (whose hand is it?).

For me at least, it looks like someone is praying with their hands thus the different size hands look out of proportion.

This is for a novelization of one of my series. It's about an immortal woman who is reunited with her former lover after the death of his partner. Together, they are going to solve the mystery. I need thoughts on the cover.

The first cover makes me wonder "is it BL? is it not BL?" Which is good since it makes me click. If you don't like BL you move on. If you like BL you are like "sweet". In other words it's an attractive cover.

As for the second cover, it is very original the only "negative" (it's not really negative) thing I can mention is that I liked way more the design of the boy on the left than the boy on the right since the boy on the right seems very clicheish. But that's just personal likes and dislikes not genuine criticism so ignore it.

For the third cover, I can give you genuine advice.
The person in the middle is almost invisible. He attracts 0 attention mainly because his clothes are the same color as the background.
If you want that character to remain mysterious I would suggest making him bigger and to put him on the back with more shadows.
You should probably reduce the number of characters in the cover. If they are all important you might want to consider adding just their heads floating and being transparent instead of their whole bodies.
Instead of making the background stand out in red it would of been better to make the tittle stand out with red.
Make the tittle look more hellish but playful (adding horns or devil tails plus changing colors).

One last thing I noticed in all your covers. Your tittle is always in the same place. You can play with it and change where you put it. Cover 1 and 2 are perfect with the tittle as is but you can use cover 3 to experiment if you do the cover from scratch.

Your tittle barely stands out. You need to make it a bit more visible but just a bit (that's just my opinion).

Besides that I would of probably added hair to the vampire while censoring the eyes with shadows or even the hair instead of extending the face skin to make it look like a wall.

Note: I am assuming your story is romance/horror/drama. If it is purely horror then the wall face is perfect. Remember I am only judging by what I can see. I haven't read your story and I am not involved so I do not know any deeper meaning behind your cover.

The colors were intentional. The original photo of the ivy is a little faded. I'm still game with tweaking stuff around, it's just finding the right balance. You know?

I like your cover as is. Maybe next season or for fan service you can make the opposite cover. I mean making the female stick figure to turn into human form while keeping the male MC in stick form.

Your cover could portray anything.
It is a very classical aproach in literature so it will attract old school readers who like serious books.

But judging by the cover alone I do not get the vibes of an immortal woman reuniting with her ex lover after the death of his partner.

The title and cover make me see that the most important thing in the novel is the ivy. When I think of ivy I think of something poisonous.
And the woman on the cover could be someone who is like ivy.

The immortal ivy makes me think of a spanish saying that is: "mala hierva nunca muere" which translates as "weeds never die".

I quite like the tittle.

I didn't give you any constructive criticism but I hope my interpretation of the cover helps you see how at least one other person sees it.

Personally, with your cover, I would find it boring adding the tittle on the bottom (again personal likes/dislikes).

If I were you I would play around with my tittle placing it on the right side of the cover.

Depending on the font it could look amazing on the right corner or on the middle right of the cover.
If you don't like it you can always place it on the bottom.

Once you have the font chosen I suggest playing with the position of the tittle on the 3 places I mentioned and seeing which one you like best.
