Shadows of Our Sins is the first Arc in a supernatural, teen Drama [Action, Contemporary fantasy] about a Aliyah Dawn who gets Enlightment powers and a Chakram based off of her desires to make sure the world can live in peace, free of tragedy, after her brother gets killed in a school shooting - but the thing she learns is, it wasn't just a normal shooting.
There are other people who gained powers from their desires, too, that demons tricked them into wanting and they get manifested from it. Now the Shadows of people sins terrorize, society, and NYC and even her loved ones!
she also deals with her boyfriends crazy ex, who may or may not, have her own corrupted desire and drags her boyfriend through it.
The "magic system" - the concept of desires - is the real interesting part and the consequences of having one and not being able to control your deepest wishes, and often, your deepest burdens. It also managed to combined a bit of a Litrpg to make it even more unique - I highly recommend checking it out. It's got good commentary and empowering messages that are deep without doing too much.
