wow guys everyone needs to calm down a second
his idea isn’t bad it’s just a bit too optiminsitic. nothing wrong with that, we can point it out without tearing down into him

like everyone said, a consistent ongoing project will be impossible to do.
i don’t want to get into the how’s and why’s, i think others did that enough, but i don’t think it’s a negative thing to acknowledge that.

what i was thinking this suggested, and could be a lot of fun, is if each page was drawn by someone new (screened, so the artistic ability isn’t too poor, and there’s an understanding we want to story to progress seriously) who wrote and illustrated the page (or they can pair up with a writer, if they want, for that one page)
so it’s drawn and written like a story in progress? the kids game?

artists and writers can volunteer, people can do more than one page, and those who don’t want in- no problem, you really don’t have to join

The idea does sound interested, although I too am a little bit sceptical on how this will go. For one, I would definitely read such a thing, but I don't think I'd really contribute, as I am working on my comis as a one-man team and together with my dayjob, I spent like 11-15 hours a day drawing, so... I don't think I would manage other things.
However, in another community, not for comic artists, but just fantasy artists I saw a working project where everyone could contribute, but sort of independently and that worked. Everyone would draw a picture of their character (or whatever) with their background, in a way that it would continue from the picture before it by scrolling down. It is ongoing and someone occassionally contributes and the result is basically a long scroll-down image from various authors. Which does look like fun.
However, it is much much easier to manage and no one expects any gains from it.

If you wanted to make a comic, maybe it would be more useful to have one person write it so that the story leads somewhere and isn't confusing, and then having various artists draw the pages. Something like that. But I have no idea how many people would be willing to spend their time on that

I'd be really interested tbh

But my concern is the deadlines.

What if someone is supposed to illustrate page x but jumps off without notice?

Or what if I personally miss a deadline bc life is stressful?

Would I have to illustrate pages again and again if e.g. only 5 people took part? But if 100 took part I could only do a page once?

Would that story be written by everyone? Wouldn't that make for really terrible storytelling?
I would much rather have someone calling the shots then. But who would be even qualified to provide such a story or take on so much organizational work?

I'm really asking seriously. If my concerns aren't actual problems I wupd like to participate

Idea sounds cool, but many things really concerns me, especially those which @Lia said. IMHO if idea will take off, it should be something like anthology of short stories. Authors can cooperate in discord or elsewhere and decide on every short story who is writing and who is drawing. Just my opinion.

You know what, I've given it some thought and my bad. I should've just asked about the things I was worried about with an open mind rather than calling you out on every point I saw wrong.

It's just that I see the threads you post and kinda get upset after reading them, they just feel so.. like you did one thing right and someone applauded you for it, but now you think you're far more experienced than everyone and you go around posting lectures like you mastered the craft. Like you think you know all the ins and outs of the site after working on one comic for a while. That's how it comes off to me anyways, not sure if anyone relates.. Maybe I'm just getting pissed at these for no good reason though. Well, there's that and the issue of poorly written unpaid collab posts (I'm not gonna get into it lol we've all said enough on the subject before)

But those are separate issues, and I'm going off from what I wanted to originally say. I'm sorry for digging into you like that, I just had some concerns over what you were suggesting. Do what you wanna do with this, and if people wanna do this for fun, then yeah, why shouldn't they go for it? It's a bad on me for forgetting that sometimes, people can just work on a thing for fun. It's literally what I'm doing, so why the hell didn't I recognize that??? I hope you prove my previous comment wrong~

I completely understand man, no problem. I'd be skeptical too, some random wants to create a community comic etc.

But, I genuinely want to see this through to the end, and if you want to join in, we'd be glad to have you on board.

A couple of these things have been done and open to more episodes if there are enough volunteers for a fight.

These are themed around fights between oc`s from different series.

Working with a team can be great, but it requires a lot of coordination and compromise between the people of the team, so it can get a little bureocratic, specially for bigger teams.

Trust and respect between the teammates is important too.Not only to make sure all the characters are properly represented, but because is important to reach on an agreement about the tone and the events of the story.
