Well, here I want to discuss something, did you find a character in fiction that you like but in the end, you feel like "uh this character it's not explored enough". I feel this way with a specific Marvel character that will debut in WandaVision. His name is Billy Kaplan and he is known as Wiccan.
The problem with Wiccan (at least from what I read so far) is that he is a superhero. That's his main problem because being a superhero means that he must dominate his powers in order to fight the bad guys, sure he made mistakes but those mistakes were things that he didn't saw coming, not things that he don't want to happen and still happen.
His powers, for what I understand work with wishes, wishes that he must focus to visualize and believe it so hard to become reality. Ok, that's awesome, but, the main issue with that kind of power is, he could cast things that he fears, he could cast dangerous things for himself and everyone around him in many situations, but he never faces that problem. Yes, he once believed that his boyfriend may not be real because Teddy is so perfect that he must be an illusion or something like that (just like House of M or WandaVision) but besides that he never faces another problem related to his powers, problems related to his subconscious, no problems related to him messing around with things that he shouldn't like alternative realities.
But well, again, the main problem is that he is a superhero, so the story cant focus enough in the other side of his life related to his powers, the very few moments that he is not seen as a superhero, he is perfectly capable to do anything without any problem or consequences even if he is traumatized.
That's why I created my character Gareg Motus, taking the advantage of my world where everyone has superpowers, he can be explored appropriately, this doesn't mean that Gareg will behave the same as Billy they both may share the same powers and some physical traits but they are both different personalities, mostly because I'm not sure how Billy will react to the same situations that Gareg will be exposed so I have the liberty with him.
Gareg debut is in chapter 6 of my comic and he uses his powers in no time to help a friend.
His family is composed by his lovely mother, his twin emotionless brother, and his aggressive father.
His journey and conflict start with his father putting pressure on him in order to master his powers, but Gareg powers are related very deeply to his emotions, plus he is a very emotional kid.
Well, what do you think about?
Do you want to talk about Wiccan and Gareg or do you want to share your personal experiences with a character that you like?
