He's our dearest protagonist, Samuel da Costa Mendes! He's someone marred by scars and blemishes to contrast with the Sorcerer's seemingly immaculate exterior, but they're more alike than they think! To quote the still unreleased episode 10:
He tried to remember what sort of person he was, once.
However, he had long been marred with scars, and between here and there, they became an inherent part of him to the point where the search for something more fundamental was fruitless.
"Scars" are a pretty big theme in my work, where I can go as far as claim them to be the central piece that holds them all together. As the protagonist, Samuel was fated to have the most obvious ones.
