Rigamarole is almost literally all about lying and keeping secrets. The primary one being that the FL, Leia, is trying to keep anyone from finding out her little brother's secret, and lying a whole lot to cover it up.

(this is free for anyone to read on my public posts.)

Hunter and hunted, predator and prey, human vs vampires, what will it take to tip the balance in either side's favor?
An heir, a pair, and a brother disappeared.
Human blood fuels a vampire's life and vampire lives fuel human savagery.

A secret that must be hidden in plain sight

lol, sometimes the secrets are known to the readers and just not to others.

Secrets abound in "Lyra's Magnum Opus". Tetsu is keeping the fact that he is bisexual and non-binary from everyone in his life. The whole series is about his journey to reveal it on his own terms and becoming comfortable with these things himself. He is semi-famous in the book's world as a musician and dancer from the start, so he's also keeping it from the world. Sana's band, Lyra, has long kept secret from the music industry that Sana (their singer) has a degenerative illness that is later revealed to be terminal in actual fact, which is the other shoe dropping that most of the band didn't even know. The whole series is about Sana revealing this on his own terms to their fans and the whole world as the band becomes more famous due to their unique situation and new association with Tetsu who is already famous as the drag queen Aurelia. It is also kept secret for a while that Tetsu and Sana are together, and Tetsu gets fired from his management company for being queer due to them finding out about this relationship pretty early on. The slow reveal that Tetsu and Sana are dating and then married is also a major theme in the book (it kinda gets more cute, though, this particular secret, as their mutual fans adore them both as they watch their journey).

Sana kept his disease a secret from his band mates? I can understand not wanting everyone to know, but it's still gotta be hard on them. What's the disease?

*breaks out into a cold sweat * Oof, every character in Apparent Secrets is keeping something from someone. Whether it's "I've been in love with you for months" to "I'm secretly hiding three aliens in my apartment," EVERYONE has something to hide. :joy: I think it's fun to tease out each persons' secrets and lies as we go along. The longer you read, the more dirt you dig up on everyone.

lol. I think most real people have at least a few things they keep secret from at least a few people, so that's pretty realistic and reasonable...except maybe the part about hiding aliens

Wait, other people aren't hiding aliens from other worlds?
*nervous panic ensues * :joy:

I may have a few characters hiding or harboring aliens lol. Some are unaware they are aliens. I also have an alien trying to hide a human from her parents, because they aren't supposed to be friends

5 out of 6 of my characters are magic based which is a secret they keep from the average world. HOWEVER all of them have deeper secrets that they are keeping from each other (and maybe themselves). BUT SAYING WHAT THAT IS IS A SPOILER-

(The reason I made this piece was because of all the s e c r e t s)

I forgot, but I guess I should have realized, the entire way Essence lives her life is sort of a lie, or at least a false front. She is trying very hard to seem as "normal" as possible to keep people from being made uncomfortable by how little she is like most other people.

Aye, this is pretty true of my leads too. Not quite magic, but they are fantasy creatures in the modern world and trying to hide it

That's like my whole comic series haha it's literally titled "The Secrets We Keep" XD
Main secret in the story is that the main character is mixed with two celestial bloodlines- this is important because no child born of both bloodlines survives past the age of seven. She has to keep it a secret or the King will kill her. The second is that she is possessed by a full Celestial Demon.

He is gay, keeping this from everyone, including himself.

Since Camille has lost touch to his emotions so completely it will be hard for him to overcome this.

I finally got to reveal a secret that everyone has been keeping from Vince in my latest chapter that being released tonight (the past death of an islander). And I got to reveal the reason for them hiding it which is Handi's primary coping mechanism is of right now is avoidence, so they just don't bring it up to protect her. And this isn't the only way in which she's lying to herself  but I haven't reveal that yet.

As for my other story easy one, Aurora still hasn't told anyone about her reincarnation. Personally I still haven't figure out why she hasn't or if she will later, but I am still in the first few chapters so that's future me problem.

Our mysterious doctor, and supporting character, Birger Bramblewood has kept his identity as an elf a secret from Arjana(MC), a young human princess, since he took her in.

In this world, humans and elves are enemies because elves and humans have a history of enslaving one another. Despite this, humans remain a great threat to elves and have the advantage against them due to a curse placed on the elves.

When his apprentice, Izzimar, found her, Birger was worried that the other humans may be looking for her and wouldn't be too pleased with her being in their company. So, he stopped wearing his traditional garb and wore a magical hood to create an illusion to hide his ears and antlers. As he helps her heal from her sickness, he ponders of a way to get her home without revealing his identity.

*This Novel series has pictures, currently backed up, but will post pictures in novels that are missing them**

Honestly? EVERYONE in my comic is keeping or has kept some kind of secret.

Even my MC, Eli, isn't telling his friends and family everything he's finding out about the game.

Though some are keeping bigger secrets then others.

Oof, sure hope they aren't love interests, keeping secrets from your significant-other-to-be probably wouldn't go down well

Nope Naaririel and Elyn will forever have a daughter/father like relationship. It’s more like he’s keeping the secret from her until the time is right since it will affect her mental and emotional state.

Yukiko is hiding her entire identity. Nobody knows where she's from or who she really is. If anybody did, she would be in great danger. Even her closest friend, Ren, has no idea. But that's okay. After all, Ren has a secret of his own...

I am going to just sip my tea as my whole story plot is based around secrets and lies.

All of it.

Okay I can't exactly tell you exactly what it is because it's kind of a spoiler, but Harper has a really big issue that no one knows about. Soon enough Dallas starts to realize what it is and the whole shebang happens and boom... conflict.
You'll have to read to figure out what it is, though.

Chili has yet to admit to Texas that he paints their cat. It's not like she doesn't KNOW he's doing it, but he hasn't admitted to it

The biggest and most consequential liar in my story is definitely Alex. My first published chapter was all about setting bad vibes around him and how he definitely lied about what happened to his half-sister Alma.

(This is the face of someone trustworthy.)

I’m trying to slowly build a mystery around what happened to Alma after their father's death, and Alex is one the few people to know the whole story but continue to tell blatant lies on the subject. What happened to Alma is incredibly important because of how it affects the two protagonists Corrine and Rose.

Yup. He paints flowers, ducks, etc on the cat. It's weird, but their cat is extremely sentient and likes it. It confused Texas the first time she noticed that it had flowers all over it, but it didn't take her long to figure out the culprit.
