Hello, I am a new writer who unfortunately is not good in the field of drawing but rather good in writing fantasy, funny, romance or other stories. I am looking for a webtoon artist who can make my imagination come into the form of drawing. Since, this is the first time I want to publish my work, I can't pay and for that reason I am sorry to the people. Since, i will be publishing it and making it public, if I earn money through it I will give you your share, other than that I can't personally pay. Also, I'm not looking for just some person who's good at art and just keeps doing what I tell them to do. I want to get feedback from them if possible on my writing.

the reason why I want to try making a manhwa is because I am in my last year of high school (grade 12) and am pretty bad at drawing as mentioned before, throughout my years in high school I have had a passion for writing but its only a hobby. I want to show to my parents that it can be more than a hobby and want to major in this area of field in University. I have done various kinds of writing and scripts. So, the manhwa I want to make is comedy and romance. the script isn't fully ready yet but I have an idea of what i want it to be. I can further explain it through our conversations. So, please message me if your interested.

I will try my best to provide a storyline that fits according to the artist's taste and have options to chose from. I don't mind it taking ages because I'm not paying and am in no position to ask it. I am still young, so I might make some mistakes and errors. i hope you would be able to help me and I would be thankful for your help in making my first ever manhwa/webtoon. As someone who has never published anything online, I will heavily be relying on the artist.

Hi! You are extremely unlikely to find an artist willing to do the brunt of the work for free, especially in full color with shading like the average manhwa.
Instead, you should try some free/cheap ethical comic making tools that don't require drawing skills, like DAZ studio or comipo. Dad is 3d posing in realism style, and comipo is manga style. There are more prefab-based comic tools around, but these are some of the most popular I've seen non-drawers use.
And remember, a good story can carry a comic far! If you put something out there as a comic writer and prove your chops, you might even forge connections for your next project and find artists to collaborate with (different from getting an artist to work for free, both parties give and take and communicate)
Best of luck!

I want to show to my parents that it can be more than a hobby and want to major in this area of field in University.

Having been in this position myself, best of luck.

That said, I'd start with publishing your writing/scripts online first as webnovels and such.

Not only does that give you the experience of what it's like to actually publish on a schedule, but it also shows artists that you are indeed committed, and not full of empty promises.

Hello there, welcome to the forum.

I would recommend dedicating to writing if there are no means to pay an artist or to compensate properly for their services, remember that in most manhua the visuals are the first thing to attract readers (And mind you, a reader is not a client), a good quality and consistency of images, creating promotional content, concept art, backgrounds, effects and more will mostly be the heavy lifting of the artist.

The only way to prove to your parents your hobby is not a hobby is by making an income, I would suggest writing original content on Tapas, keep a consistent schedule publishing a novel, and offsite, in places like Tumblr or Archive of our Own to write fanfiction. At the same time try to apply for writing contests, enter classes or courses that allow you to build a portfolio/curriculum so you can later get gigs or offer writing commissions to start generating an income, or even try to apply to paid writing positions.

I must tell you that even if you get an artist to collaborate with you, there is no guarantee that you would see any kind of money, maybe a $1 donation from time to time if you have a Ko-Fi or Patreon, most that make an income out of this have spent several years building their fanbase first, so... don't expect immediate fame nor money, and if you're doing this to gain your parent's approval... sadly, as someone who has been in your place, even if you were to make a living out of it, they'll still want you to get something more stable, or that "What are you going to do the day your hobby doesn't work anymore?"
So try to focus on studies, be it university, tertiary education, a career or job that guarantees you a stable income, make writing or drawing your 4th option.

If you still want to try collaborating with someone, I believe you could enhance your post by using this other thread as a guide and these common questions most applicants have that you could pre-answer to have a more polished pitch.

And better late than never, this Topic goes on the #collaborations category, instead of Questions.

hello, thank you for your advice. I will add my work to this comment. Thanks once again.

Hello, thank you for telling me that. I will take it into consideration and maybe put a pause into finding a artist, instead just make more writing content and then find an artist.

Also, I wanted to ask what the cheapest price would be for per episode for a comic style manga or just comic in general. I am able to pay $10-15 per episode for now. As, the time passes I will likely be able to pay more.
