OP, I'd also like to recommend Winston Rowntree's Subnormality. He really takes advantage of the "infinite canvas" aspect of webcomics. Beautiful work, but not the most commercial.

how about chapter 5 in watchmen, Fearful Symmetry has symetrical page layout ( so page 1 is the mirror of page 28 etc)
