The updated things are bolded.
Hi,
I’m C. Michelle. I’m a writer wanting to start a web comic. I've read web comics (and traditional comics), but I have mainly written prose. I've tried a few time to produce comics, but finding a reliable collaborator has proven difficult. And I get it. I have kids and a job. But I'm going to try again.
Here's my pitch: Young single woman moving to the city answers an ad for a lovely townhouse with the requirement, "Must like cats." Turns out her new roommate is a cat. How does this cat own a townhouse, walk upright, wear a hat, and have a job at a bakery? That's the mystery...
This will be a tale of ongoing, experiences of the girl and the cat. Not sure what style I'm going for precisely, but I'm thinking heart-warming and cozy. Lot's of tea and baked goods and gardening. Aprons in the kitchen. The music of Blossom Dearie.
If Must Like Cats had a theme song, it would be this:
Oh, and the cat still looks like a cat, not a person. And she doesn't speak. She types out notes. But anyway.
I don't have a lot to offer by way of pay. $25-$50 an episode, with preliminary milestones paid for like episodes, and probably only one or two episodes a month to start. When we pick up speed and interest, we can certainly do more if that works out for our schedules.
I'm thinking of episodes consisting of about 15-20 panels each. I like the storytelling style of webcomics like "Enjoy the Show."
Right now I'm gauging interest, trying to see if I should pursue it. I already have notes on 11 possible story events, that would probably be broken down into multiple episodes. Let me know what you think, what you know, and what's your style, and please show me some samples. Oh, and you must like cats.
If you want to see a sample of my work, I have a short story up.
Thanks,
C.
