(First-time poster here. I'm not 100% sure if I'm posting this in the proper section/category so mods please adjust as needed. Thanks in advance. Looking at the rules on this site for this type of post, I will break things down as much as possible so that you guys can have as much clarity about my intent and goals).
INTRODUCTION:
Hello everyone. My name is SOMDOW and I am looking for assistance. To tell you a bit about myself, I used to be an illustrator many moons ago(20+ years ago) and as the years passed, I decided to make a career change and went down the path of a web animator/web designer/coder/programmer/developer and as time went on, am now in leadership roles with my current role being an IT/Digital Marketing Program Manager with about 15 team members supporting my organization in various project types. Essentially I manage teams and setting the goals, expectations, and projects in place for my organization as well as the technologies to be used etc. Though I love my career and wouldn't change it, it's taken me EXTREMELY far from my origins. And this in itself is why I'm here. I'm here because I am trying to support my sister. Let me explain.
My sister is a long-time writer with a decent amount of projects under her belt. I've read some of her books and not to be biased, but they're pretty amazing and this is coming from a guy that NEVER reads anything unless it's for work, and/or gets his main fix for content via videos or gaming, and the only time I do read, is when I'm trying to get the back story of a game like say, HALO prequel novels and things like that lol. So for me to read anything not related to my job or gaming, it HAS to be good. And Indeed, they are. Although I can't remember off the top of my head, she has a decent following with millions of downloads on Wattpad, etc.
(I'm not 100% sure if I can/should post her work here(not sure about the rules on that since I'm a first poster) so I will leave it out but last I checked, her most popular book was around the 2.5m mark download on wattpad and some of her other works are decent as well.
HOW DID WE(MY SIS AND I) GET HERE:
I was watching a video on YT and I saw something about "webtoon" and the deeper I went, the more I kinda liked it. a different medium. So I sent the video to her, and she says "OMG wattpad has just merged/bought out by webtoon" blah blah...and as the conversation kept going, she mentioned she was already thinking about diversifying her career lane and wanted to try this webtoon avenue but had no idea how to get started(shes not tech saavy) and asked if I could help her which of course, I said, "Let's DO IT!".
I am serious about this. To give you an idea, I already have(aside from myself):
* web designers
* developers
* programmers
* marketers as well as
* video/motion designers(for trailers and things like that), and currently working on securing a 3d artist(more on this below) if the project heads in that direction.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR(2D ART STYLE ETC):
After talking to my sis and theory crafting, talking about what it could look like and more importantly what we wanted it to FEEL like, I mentioned to her that back when I used to draw, that I was a huge fan of Yoshitaka Amanos VAMPIRE HUNTER D art/books. This type of art style:

She absolutely loved it and thought it was perfect. This said, I told her to go ahead and find more art that would be acceptable to her and she sent me these(again, not sure on promotion rules, so I'm just posting the image snippet that represents what she and I are looking for style-wise)

This last one, has an INITIAL D type of vibe:

The art itself does not have to be colored and does not have to be exactly like what is shown, We are open to different styles but from looking at this work, the hope is that you can tell the type of work we are looking for and the general direction we are wanting to go in. If not explicit enough, let me know and we can try to find more. If you yourself do not do a style like this but know someone who does please share. We are very open.
REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRES SKILLS
* We need someone that is communicative and works well with a team.
* Someone that can take direction well, as well as constructive criticism(open to feedback/critique overall)
* Maintains visual consistency in the hand-drawn/2d space
* Needs to have a portfolio(non-negotiable)
* can work in Illustrator/photoshop or any tool that when done can export into ai/psd files
PAYMENT
To be upfront with you all, as you can probably tell, this is a 1st for me and my sis so we don't know the intricacies of this avenue but I am a businessman and realistic. I don't expect anyone to work for free. Usually when someone works for free, if it's not an absolute passion thing for them then the first thing that goes is the attention span, the second thing that goes is the motivation, and the third thing that goes is the actual person lol. So yes, this will be a paid project.
This all said, this is not a commercial project nor does it generate any income currently since again, we are new. Depending on the direction that we go in, I do have plans to monetize the ideas I have overall but for now, it's not generating any income. This said, I told my sister id fund it as well and I feel comfortable with say....... 15-30$ per page and less comfortable but acceptable with 50$ per page if you are really good/experienced. And hey, again, I don't want to fully dictate what someone should be paid(since im new to this front) but if you can show you are worth a bit more, we can talk. Again, this all said, this is certainly negotiable. I got the general pricing from perusing the web. I went to FIVERR but.................... yeah.... no.
As for 3d. We are also considering other methods of art because we may pivot into 3d storytelling (more to come) and if we decide to go in this avenue, we will still need someone to help up flesh out the concept characters and pets we will use to tell our story.
So again, all of this is negotiable.
IN CLOSING
I hope I was able to portray my ideas/intent and overall vision. Please let me know if I need to add more "color" to this post so as to further flesh it out. Also, and tips advice and anything that can help us make a more proper post/decision please feel free to share. I welcome any advice. Thanks again for reading. Have a great day everyone.
