Big tip if your planning to aim for weekly updates which I'm sure has been said before (hopefully): Have a buffer, meaning already completed pages saved up and ready to upload by release. It will save your life when some of the work is done ahead of time and that way you can be ahead and not stressing to finish the next update within a painful crunch deadline. It'll save your hands and your sanity
Now for the "hacks"

Magic Poser is a pretty (imo really) good tool to help with figuring out character poses. It's the equivalent to those wooden dolls you'd buy and take photos of for reference but online. Simple user interface and control setting and it's been a good help for me lately when experimenting with more dynamic poses. It's also got settings for foreshortening which can be really tough.
Lots of people seem to have mentioned CSP's 3D + environment tools as well as Sketchup so there's not much I can add about those programs. I will add that taking or finding photos can be a big help with environments natural or other wise, since it helps you get a better feel for how cities are laid out or how nature moves and flows "in the wild". Obviously usage rights are a thing to take into consideration now and again so places that are good for free to use photos are these two sites

Another resource I've seen mentioned for rendering backgrounds and environments is this site/app thing. I've not used it myself and I imagine like most things it's probably got a learning curve but it's free and based on things I've seen come from it pretty dang good
Slightly more general advice: references are your best friend, don't hesitate to use them. Like it's been mentioned there are folks who say "you should be able to draw without reference" or call it cheating: it is not.
So that said here's a list of places I've visited for references, tutorials and the like
(That last one for hands I just found today thanks to a lovely tweet that appeared in my feed and it's very good, especially since hands are almost every artists bane)
Best of luck!
