Did you think I was done?! No, you can't get rid of me and my praise that easily! I'm back, and I'm going to get through a few more comics!
I can't edit the main post anymore, so... in an attempt to work with that, I'm also going to start adding in links to the comics in question from the post on, so I hope that helps with checking out the comics I'm reviewing.
Now then, on to business...
@lorphis's Crest of Chaos:
- I really like how you don't shy away from drawing backgrounds, and the backgrounds look really good to me! I think you do a good job with lighting the environments, too.
- I like how your comic starts with action and introduces the characters in an exciting way; start with a bang! I like how it also establishes a bit of who they are relative to this society--and to each other.
- Speaking of action, I like how you draw movement through the panels and the visual progression of the story. The actions flow really smoothly and were, for me, very easy to follow and not confusing at all.
- The interactions and banter between the two main characters thus far is fun to read; I like seeing how they contrast with each other in their mannerisms and their interest in interacting at all.
While there isn't too much yet, the story starts with some excitement and keeps you with the interactions between the characters and the little tidbits of lore gradually introduced through the dialogue. There are mysteries afoot that will be exciting to discover as the plot progresses!
@MossyRabbit's Vagrant Vultures:
- The framing in the panels, and the panels themselves, are really dynamic and fluid; I especially like the way that you strategically break panels to push certain actions--they work really well!
- The coloring style really stands out with all its textures and makes for an interesting and unique reading experience. I especially love what you did with the colors and lighting to convey the mood and time in the most recent pages.
- The characters are all fun and have their own little quirks. Not just the main characters, too! They're fun to follow and bounce off each other very well.
- I really like the pacing and how the story is developing thus far; those few first pages give a good idea where the overall story will be developing, but once we switch to our main characters, it gives the reader some time to get to know everyone before introducing other important plot points.
Overall, I really like the story progression thus far as you get your readers acquainted with the world and its characters. There's enough happening early on that I don't feel like I'm waiting for the "real" plot to happen--I'm just enjoying the interactions between the characters for now and the action in the present. I'm sure it'll be even more exciting once you get into the meat of the plot!
You're both off to great starts and it's exciting to see where they'll be heading from here on out! Good luck and thank you for giving me the opportunity to go through your comics!
