My daily writing tool is a markdown editor called ghostwriter11. While the novel editor on Tapas is nice and simple, it doesn't have that many options when it comes to formatting. In addition, I have to copy and paste every time I want to publish an episode and manually redo italics. I keep the master copies of my stuff on my hard drive and it is impractical/unwise to have it all on Tapas. I can't be the only one that does this. I'm not a developer but I don't think it would be too much of a hassle to implement because the forums already use markdown. Markdown is also just an awesome tool anyway, and for aspiring writers it is a great thing to learn because it lets you have a basic master copy and then convert that master copy into anything you want.

If there are any other novel writers here feel free to chime in with other suggestions because I couldn't find another thread for feedback about the editor.

TL;DR

  • Add markdown compatibility to the editor (this would make copy/paste sooo much easier. As it is now I have to manually redo italics in my chapters.).

The forums run on a different software though (Discourse), which has a lot of built-in options of its own. I think the main website uses Marked, so it should be possible to add more options. I've had to deal with format issues elsewhere (copying text from OneNote into my website), and it's unbelievably annoying when you have to redo all the italics, etc. So, I understand and I agree. Markdown support would be nice.

I agree with the suggestion to add markdown to Tapas novel editor, too.

Absolutely, anything that gives more formatting options to novels would be incredible. Even just no more manually redoing italics and/or Centering, or some kind of horizontal bar for scene changes.
