Minor Milestones, but Milestones Nonetheless

It's based off of a really old concept piece I made years ago.

A young Sage Owl is left alone as the last of his kind as an ancient demon is comitting genocide on them, and he's left trying to find a way to defeat it. ^^

RIP lmao yeah I got super motivated by using camp nanowrimo to keep myself working on the script :33 but since the website doesn't work when the camp isn't running, I had to look for something else X3

Yeah! I think I had two comic ideas years ago where I just decided "yup this is a cool concept" and I just started drawing pages haha I never got further than 5 pages I think... I'm very determined to make sure this time is different! >:3

Haha, it's sorta an unrealistic goal at the moment since I haven't even seen how fast I am at working on the pages from start to finish ^^; I have some sketched out, but that's it. I haven't started posting it yet. I want to get a buffer going : D

Basically I'm giving myself two months(ish) to see how much of the first chapter I can get done :0

Edit: Oh! And the comic is about a woman who hates children and is turned into one by a witch! :0 She has to look for a way to break the curse. :3

My first goal was to finish 30 pages, the first chapter was 20 pages so with a 10-page buffer I knew I could miss a week of work without worrying too much.

I'd suggest the same kind of goal for yourself, don't worry too much about when you're done, just get done first.

I spend about 4-7 hours on a complete page I've noticed, getting a good ETA for how much time you need is a very good way to see how much you'll be able to upload per month ^^

I'm not super worried of how long it'll take, but I want to see how close I could get if I tried doing the first chapter in this amount of time :333

Don't push yourself with big goals, that's never a smart thing and you'll only disappoint yourself. Don't mind missing one either, it happens and you probably had a good reason even if it was minor, I took 6 months of hiatus after the first 14 pages too because of IRL stuff, it happens. As long as you get back to it, no one is going to blame you. ^^

I actually don't remember my first comment, I just remember how stunned and excited I was that it happened. I do have a bout 4 or 5 readers that consistently comment/read. Then sometimes I get new people who comment

My milestones are:

Completing a development stage for a chapter, starting with: thumbnailing all of the pages, sketching all of them, and then completing all of them.

Building up a buffer again. Right now I have a buffer of 7 pages plus a chapter intermission and the next chapter title page!

Last week, I talked with some members here on the comic hangout! I haven't been able to active in the webcomic community lately, but I want to be more active, so managing that was a step forward!

Managing to work 2 or more hours on my comic on a weekday. I had a lot of days where the only progress I made on my comic for the day was in the early morning before I had to leave for work. I feel much more accomplished that day when I can continue it after work.

That's a great attitude to have for reader Like, I get not being able to engage when there's way too many comments, but I don't quite get why there are creators who just. Outright refuse to engage. Hm.

Engaging can be time consuming (especially if they have a large library) and some are limited on time, some just may not have anything to say, and some may have other reasons.

I love me some worldbuilding! I think I can go ahead and read some when the weekend comes, since uni's back in town.

Ahhh, I feel you on the buffer issue. I hate getting pressured to crank out stuff. I worry that it'll diminish the quality of my work. Good job on having some though!

Thanks! There were months I worked on pages without having a buffer. That made me feel on edge a lot, because anything could cause a schedule slip when I struggled to get a page finished quickly enough. Taking a hiatus for part of last year was necessary for me to build up the buffer, and I don't feel on edge.

I'm still at 7 pages plus two extras, but I have another two pages that are almost finished. I'm also up to about halfway through chapter 6 of my comic being drawn in some form!

Have you been able to build a buffer up too?
