I´m not a metalhead but I want to mention that metal bands were always one of the nicest people to work with
when I was working as a roadie and as a runner for live venues. Always down to earth, normal people,
no prima donnas. At least not the ones that I met. It´s just something that I observed over the years about
the metal scene

That's pretty hard for me to narrow down as...well...I listen to pretty much every subgenre, modern and classic.
I can narrow it down to my favorite subgenres at least xD

  1. Downtempo Hardcore/Deathcore
  2. Melodic Metalcore
  3. Thrash Metal
  4. Heavy Metal
  5. Melodic Death Metal

I've had the privilege to drive my friend and his drumset to a show his band was playing in. And yeah, backstage when everyone was getting set up, everybody was helping each other out, super friendly to each other, all around good vibes.

I'm pretty excited, because next month I get to see
Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium, and In Flames all at one show.
Megadeth has been a bucket list band for a while now.

In the early 90s, I was a soldier and, as an armored engineer, also took part in a humanitarian mission in Somalia. Death metal at that time became one of the most popular extreme subgenres of heavy metal. All my friends listened to it. That's why there are a lot of memories associated with the music. My favorite bands were Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel. At festivals, we saw all the bands live that had rank and name at that time.

Lots of flavors of Death Metal in the early 90s. My favorites are probably Bolt Thrower, Mortification, Suffocation, and Pestilence.

So is anyone of you going to be on Summerbreeze in germany this year? Or any other openair? I have my tickets since a while, then covid entered the stage x,) hopefully this time it works out.

So for my current 5 favourites:

  • Dynazty
  • D'Artagnan
  • Feuerschwanz
  • Sabaton
  • Aephanemer

Unfortunately I'm in the US so I've not had the chance to go to a big open air concert.
(Though we do have them here, just never at the right time for me to go)

I went to see Korn last weekend and had a whale of a time. Saw Slipknot and KSE at Knotfest last year as well. Hopefully going to see more people throughout the year. Trying to make a point to see more people live.

Nice. I saw Killswitch Engage 3 years ago with Parkway Drive. They killed it, of course.

I've always, since my childhood, loved all kinds of metal and hard rock. My introductions to it were Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Manowar, Moonspell and Stratovarious. My favorite genres are "regular" heavy metal, trash, speed, power, and death, and there are so many bands/artists that I like. It's hard to say what exactly about them makes me like them, but one thing I really like how the bands and artists usually have a lot of imagination with their songs and album covers. Especially with album covers it's funny how metal and rock albums have often great and imaginative artworks as covers, while other music genres usually have just a simple photgraph or something, like an extreme close up of the artist's face.

Nice nice. Metal album art tends to look pretty awesome. Especially the ones from European Power Metal bands.

I guess for me it's the addictive energy of the music as well as the large variety of topics, from the historical power metal of Sabaton, to the fantastical symphonic metal of Nightwish, to the moralistic musings of Demon Hunter (For the record, I am not a religious person, but I regularly return to demon hunter, maybe because they don't feel as wrapped up in preaching and show a refreshing amount of self-awareness particularly of the other more soapbox groups: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=demon+hunter+artificial+light&qpvt=demon+hunter+artificial+light&view=detail&mid=5C0B1EB1B614A9AB9A055C0B1EB1B614A9AB9A05&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Ddemon%2Bhunter%2Bartificial%2Blight%26qpvt%3Ddemon%2Bhunter%2Bartificial%2Blight%26FORM%3DVDRE)

It just feels like there's just something for everyone here.

Nice. (I actually am a Christian lol.) I cut my teeth on a ton of christian bands before opening up my vocabulary to include secular stuff.
And Demon Hunter is a band I recently really began to respect. Their music is super solid. They've got a new album coming out soon, I'm pretty hyped because the new single "Freedom is Dead" is really heavy, heavier than they've been for a while, I'm excited to see the rest of it.

Not sure how that slipped past my radar, thanks for mentioning it!
